This is a very good story, Lee.

I remember it and I'm almost certain that it was in the 2nd group, but I couldn't find it either. You're right, you can't find anything in Yahoo groups now that they've changed everything.

In one of our old groups once, we discussed a town that I think was in Texas, where all these folks were accused of Satanic ritual abuse and of killing a girl. Are these people that were released from prison part of that, or was that a different case?

He does sound exactly like Elvis.

This was just like the case with John Dillinger. Hoover couldn't admit that they killed the wrong man and the U.S. couldn't admit that they got the wrong Saddam.

I don't know what the Jersey Devil might be, but if folks hadn't seen something at some time, all those legends wouldn't have got started. I have a book about the Jersey Devil that lists some of the sightings and sometimes there would be several reports in a place from people who saw the Devil maybe just hours or a few days apart. It was way back when people had to depend on newspapers for the news and not very many folks had phones, so it wasn't like they saw something because they were expecting to.

Folks like that are just trying to shock society.
But since you were in the OTO, there must have been some people who really practiced Satanism. I'd like to know if they did things like use upside down crosses and do the black mass. I guess what I'm asking is if you ever met any real Satanists? What did you learn about the Temple of Set? I think that there was something posted about it in the old group once, but I don't remember what it was and I couldn't find it.

I'd also like to know more about what Satanists do. I went to a seminar once by a police officer, who was also a cult expert, but he said thinks like pentagrams were signs of Satanism and it was just after there were some posts in one of our old groups about the pentagram that I knew that he didn't know what he was talking about. I should have spoke up and told him that he was wrong, but I didn't.

Maybe the picture isn't a very good copy, but I don't see anything.

I didn't much like Public Enemies. I haven't read all that much about Dillinger, but just from reading about him in our old groups, I didn't think that Johnny Depp did a good job of playing him.

Thanks for posting this, Joanna. Does anybody have any ideas what Spring-heeled Jack really was?

It sounds like Nelson was more trouble than he was worth, but I guess it wasn't easy to find men willing to rob banks. Good story, Lee.

I don't think that Spring-heeled Jack was a ghost and I don't understand how the author made that connection either.
