I found a cotton sweater-knit 60s dress that still had the tags on it after 50 years. It's several different colors. The skirt of the dress is orange and brown, but the top has cross stripes of different colors knit into the fabric. One stripe is green and purple, another is beige, with brown zig-zag stripes. it's very colorful. There are strips of different colors on the sleeves, too. I'm definitely going to take it on our trip, but I haven't decided on my other outfits yet.

It must be fun shopping for vintage items on eBay. I remember when dress sizes were normal. I wonder who decided to change things to start with size 0?

I've found three more Dark Shadows outfits for our trip - a drop-waist dress with a brown knit bodice and the skirt and sleeves are brown, gray, beige and off-white checks; a black and orange rayon challis drop-waist dress for evening; and a wool skirt and jacket of brown, beige and gray plaid that I'm going to wear with a beige cashmere sweater. I need to also find, or make, a blouse to wear with the skirt and jacket because it could be warm when we're in Newport. We'll need to wait until just before we leave for Newport and check what the weather is going to be before we decide what we're taking for our 3 days there. You'd be surprised at how many things there are from the 60s that still have the tags on them, or that have hardly been worn at all.

Kate came up with an excellent idea of how we can limit the number of items we have to take with us for evening wear. We're going to be in Newport for 3 nights, so we'll need 3 different outfits, so she suggested that we wear reversible long silk skirts that reverse from black to another color that we can wear with different evening tops. She's going to make them for all of us and we just pay for the fabric and her time, et cetera. Kate can design and sew anything. She can even look at a photo in a magazine and make her own patterns.

Wow! Kate that is awesome! Sewing was never my forte, but I always wished it was.

Though I cannot speak for others, I'd love to see all these costumes and hand sewn outfits, as well as the landscapes while on your DS trip, but I am not sure if you'd want to share those with us.

It's getting close to your Dark Shadows trip. Do all of you have everything together yet?

Yeah, we wouldn't want to miss the annual necrophile pilgrimage.

Jason: If you don't like their trips, why do you read and comment on them every year?
To: Kate, Catherine & Madeline: You order some of your vintage clothes from Ebay. Could you post some of the photos of those? I'd love to see the kinds of things that you buy and I think that it would be easy to copy and post from Ebay.

I tried to post a photo of some things I bought on Ebay for our trip, but couldn't post it. I've never been able to post photos in this group.

This is the sweater dress that still had the tags on it. It's hard to believe that it hung in someone's closet for almost 50 years. They wore a lot of psychedelic and colorful things on Dark Shadows and I can imagine Maggie wearing something like this. It's very comfortable.

Here are the four outfits that I bought on ebay since last winter when we decided we would be taking our DS trip in October. The red outfit is a jacket over a short-sleeved dress. My favorite is the argyle dress in navy, pink and green and it's very comfortable.

Tomorrow (October 8), we leave on this year's Dark Shadows trip. My flight from Florida leaves at 9:20 a.m. and arrives in Providence, Rhode Island, at 2:04 p.m. Catherine, Maddie and Kate will be departing Nashville, Tennessee, at 8:05 a.m. Our flights stop in Washington, D.C., and we will leave Washington on the same flight at 12:45 and arrive in Providence at 2:04 p.m. Julia, who is flying from Portland, Maine, has a more complicated flight. She leaves Portland at 6 a.m. and after a stopover in Washington, arrives at 11:32 a.m. in Providence, where she will have to wait more than two hours for the rest of us to arrive. We will pick up our rental vehicle in Providence and drive the 30+ miles to Newport, where we're staying at the Viking Inn.
Below is a black, wool-knit dress with pleats at the hem that I ordered from Ebay last February. I don't have photos of the other items I purchased.

It's not hard for me to believe that it hung in someone's closet for almost 50 years. The woman who bought it was probably high and it was only after she came down that she realized how godawful ugly it was!
