Hunter's Moon: Wednesday, October 24 The October moon will officially reach its fullest phase around 12:45 p.m. (EDT) on Wednesday, October 24. The name Hunter’s Moon comes from the American Indians. By October, their crops were gathered and the men hunted deer, elk and other animals to stockpile meat for the cold winter to come.
Although Halloween is a week away and you won’t see flying witches silhouetted against the moon, this doesn’t mean those who practice witchcraft won’t be out and about celebrating Pale Hecate’s offerings.
Moonrise on Wednesday, October 24, is as follows:
Eastport, Maine - 5:57 p.m. St. Augustine, Florida - 7:09 p.m. Tuscaloosa, Alabama - 6:32 p.m. Pierre, South Dakota - 7:13 p.m. Flagstaff, Arizona - 6:09 p.m. Tacoma, Washington - 6:40 p.m. Source: The Old Farmers Almanac.
