Second Clue: three colleges _______
First Clue: Aries _______
Following is the primary clue for Mystery Location No. 96:
People drive past the pleasant white clapboard house on the big corner lot every day and most would be shocked to learn it was the site of a murder so horrendous that it spawned an urban legend. It happened one cold, stormy night more than a half-century ago and the crime was never solved, though at the time, many believed the perpetrator was a local man, who now lies buried in California.
Note: Points will be doubled if you locate and post a photo of the grave of the suspected killer. Each day, a new clue will be posted until someone names the location, providing the street address, city and state (or province/country if located outside the US) and an explanation as to how each clue applies to the location. If no one correctly names the location, the contest will end at midnight (Eastern time), Saturday, April 21, 2018. Please note, the contest ends at midnight in the Eastern Time Zone. If you live in a different time zone, please make adjustments so you will know what time it ends where you are.
You may discuss the location with other members by posting your comments using the “reply” option, but please do not attempt to name the location until you are absolutely certain of your answer and able to post the street address, city, state, etc., along with a photo, or link to a photo, of the Location.
For those of you who remember our old Mystery Locations contest, the point system has changed. Now, if you name the location on the first day, i.e., Sunday, before midnight (ET), you will receive 7 points. Thereafter, the points will depend on the number of clues that have been provided when you name the Location as indicated below. If you name the Location after the first clue, you will receive 6 points, etc., as indicated below. However, after the Sixth (last clue) is provided on Saturday, you must name the location before midnight (EST) Saturday night.
Sunday (or before First Clue is provided) - 7 points First Clue (Monday) - 6 points Second Clue (Tuesday) - 5 points Third Clue (Wednesday) - 4 points Fourth Clue (Thursday) - 3 points Fifth Clue (Friday) - 2 points Sixth Clue (Saturday before midnight) - 1 point
If you wish, you may collaborate with another member and if the two of you win, points will be divided between the two of you.
This contest is meant to be fun, so, as before, we ask that you conduct yourself accordingly. To prevent any accusations of favoritism, Kitty has been advised of the name and address of the Location and will not be participating in this week’s contest.

This is the murder of Janett Christman, who was raped and killed March 18, 1950, in Columbia, MO while babysitting for the Romack family. The 13-year-old was at the house at 1015 W. Stewart Road, which at the time was outside the city limits, babysitting a 3-year-old on a night that was cold and stormy with sleet falling. The Romacks found her body when they returned home late; the baby had slept through the attack. At about 11 pm, police received a phone call of what sounded like a young girl screaming but voice stopped before police could get an address. The chief suspect was Robert Mueller, a friend of Ed Romack's. He had made comments about Janett, and was apparently a gropery cad. I wasn't able to find a new photo of the house, but here's what it looked like in 1950. Janett's birthday was March 21, making her an Aries. Columbia, MO, has three colleges - University of Missouri, Stephens College and Columbia College. The urban legend if the one about the babysitter who is stalked with phone calls from inside the home where she's babysitting. While that's not the case here, the phone was left on the hook after Janett tried to call police and when Mrs. Romack tried to call to check in, she got only a busy signal. Mueller is buried in San Bruno, Calif.

Sorry, the house number is incorrect. Over the years other houses were built in the subdivision and the number changed. You need to post the current house number with a current photo or link to a map showing the house as it is today.

I found this one fast, but when I looked at 1015 Stewart Road on Google street view, I could see that it wasn't the same house in the old newspaper photo and it wasn't on a "big corner lot." So I began searching house by house until I found it and even then, I had a very hard time finding the new address. The house (above) looks the same as it did in 1950, but the address is now 1121 West Stewart Road, Columbia, Mo.
This is a picture of Janett Christman lying dead on the living room floor. I tried to find a photo of the living room as it looks today, but couldn't locate one. I assume the thing with wheels is some kind of baby-transport contraption. Note to Meredith: Any time it's easy to find a location, that means there's a catch somewhere, such as a different house number or a number that's just about impossible to find. Look back at some of the old Mystery Locations, such as No. 4 from May 29, 2016. Several people knew the significance of the location and the street, but no one could find the house number.

Congratulations, Meredith and Jason.
With the exception of the trees, bushes and a few window shutters, the house looks the same as it did almost 70 years ago.

I wonder if anyone in law enforcement ever checked to see if there were rapes matching the MO of the Columbia rapist in the locations where Robert Mueller was stationed when he was in the Air Force.
