Confederate Memorial Day is celebrated today (the last Monday in April) in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Mississippi. In Arkansas and Texas, it is celebrated January 19 (Robert E. Lee's birthday). North and South Carolina celebrate Confederate Memorial Day May 10. Kentucky, Louisiana and Tennessee have their celebration June 3 (the birth date of Jefferson Davis). People in Virginia and many other states remember their Confederate dead on Memorial Day (the last Monday in May).

My state celebrates Confederate Memorial Day on President Davis' birthday, but because politicians today cater to minorities and ignore the majority, I'm sure our celebrations this year won't be publicized. But that doesn't mean we don't honor our ancestors who died for states' rights. Happy Confederate Memorial Day, everyone!

To Southerners, the Confederate flag will always be our flag and it deserves our honor.

You're right. When I see the U.S. flag, it doesn't affect me at all, but I feel a deep sense of pride when I see the Confederate flag because it is "our" flag.

Today, we placed small Confederate flags on the graves of local Confederate veterans who are buried in remote family and other country cemeteries. Long live Dixie!
