Hey everyone! From a very young age I've been sensitive to the paranormal. At around 13 I went into a graveyard and found and unmarked grave by feeling. My father confirmed that the site gave him many distraught kinds of feelings since he worked in the area doing telephone lines for many years. When I took my mom and step dad (my daddy) out there, daddy stayed in the car and when I went from "her" grave and passed in front of the car lights he said my shadow changed from me to a Southern style 1800s type dressed shadow. She connected to me. Many other people were taken out there by mom and daddy to just find out if they all had the same reaction. Everyone left there in tears....almost sobbing. I just knew her story. She was a tobacco slave (very common in our town at that time). She became pregnant. She was killed. She harbors a lot of anger and sorrow. That's what I know. I don't know how I know it, but from the first time I stepped into the graveyard that is kind of in my parent's neighborhood, I was attracted to that spot and I knew things. There are graves there that go back to the 1800s. Has anyone else ever has such an experience? I feel her everytime I go back to my parents' house. She means me no ill will, but there are other spirits there.

Welcome to the group! It's too bad there's no name on the grave so you can do some further research. Maybe one of the workers may have an idea as to who may have been buried there?

Welcome Shellie. I've had strange experiences similar to that. The old graveyard were Kate Batts is buried (some people accused her of being the Bell Witch) is close to where I live and I had a very strange experience there when I was a child. I've also had odd feelings in other cemeteries and at in old houses, etc.

Kate, I am not sure I recall your strange experience with the graveyard. Would you be willing to re-share that with us (or point us to a post/link where we can read about your experience)?

Kate, I am not sure I recall your strange experience with the graveyard. Would you be willing to re-share that with us (or point us to a post/link where we can read about your experience)? When I was a kid, we lived in walking distance of the old Batts Cemetery. My parents still live there. One afternoon two other girls and I were talking about the Bell Witch at school and we decided to go to the old cemetery when we got home. One of my friends had to take her little sister because she threatened to tell on us, so there were 4 of us. It's off the road and we had to walk through a field to get there. It's in a wooded area and by the time we got there, it was getting kind of late and as we were walking around reading the tombstones, we heard this cackling noise, just like the sound of witch laughing and we ran. Kate Batts' grave isn't marked, but a lot of the other graves are. We got scared and started running and didn't stop until we got back to the road. Then we decided that some of the older kids who lived nearby heard us talking and were waiting in the cemetery to scare us. But when we passed by the farm where the kids lived that we thought had scared us, we saw them out feeding the livestock, so it wasn't them. We also saw a huge spider on one of the graves, which also scared us, and we had tics crawling on us. I've been back there since and I haven't heard any cackling, but it's a strange place because its way too quiet. You don't even hear birds singing.
