Third Clue: mining _______
Second Clue: cake _______
First Clue: conquerors _______
Please read carefully before attempting to name the Location. Following is the primary clue for Mystery Location No. 359: There are a few trees and some scraggly shrubs in the sandy yard of the small, squat house with the flat roof, but otherwise, the landscaping can best be described as dismal. Unless someone tells them, few in the transient neighborhood know that one spring day some time ago, a resident of the home was murdered in a most brutal manner, and the killer lived free for many years thereafter.
Each day, a new clue will be posted until someone names the location, providing the street address, city and state, as well as the room or apartment number, if applicable, (or province/country if located outside the US) and an explanation as to how each clue applies to the location. If no one correctly names the location, the contest will end at midnight (Eastern time), Saturday, July 1, 2023. Please note, the contest ends at midnight in the Eastern Time Zone. If you live in a different time zone, please make adjustments so you will know what time it ends where you are.
You may discuss the location with other members by posting your comments using the “reply” option, but please do not attempt to name the location until you are absolutely certain of your answer and you are able to post the street address, city, state, etc., along with a photo, or link to a photo, of the Location.
For those of you who remember our old Mystery Locations contest, the point system has changed. Now, if you name the location on the first day, i.e., before the first clue is posted, you will receive 7 points. Thereafter, the points will depend upon the number of clues that have been provided when you name the Location as indicated below. If you name the Location after the first clue, you will receive 6 points, etc., as indicated below. However, after the Sixth (last clue) is provided on Saturday, you must name the location before midnight (EST) Saturday night. Upon accumulation of sufficient points, winners may choose an item from our Prize List.
Sunday (or before First Clue is provided) - 7 points First Clue (Monday) - 6 points Second Clue (Tuesday) - 5 points Third Clue (Wednesday) - 4 points Fourth Clue (Thursday) - 3 points Fifth Clue (Friday) - 2 points Sixth Clue (Saturday before midnight) - 1 point
If you wish, you may collaborate with another member and if the two of you win, points will be divided between the two of you.
This contest is meant to be fun, so, as before, we ask that you conduct yourself accordingly. To prevent any accusations of favoritism, Steve has been advised of the name and address of the Location and will not be participating in this week’s contest.

www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/2625-W-Curtis-Rd_Tucson_AZ_85705_M15867-28120This sounds like 2625 West Curtis Road in Tucson, Arizona. On May 7, 2003 David Watson shot Marilyn Cox and Renee Farnsworth in the driveway. Marilyn had just finished her first unsupervised visit with her granddaughter Jordynn (the daughter of David Watson and his ex-wife Linda Watson, Marilyn’s daughter.) Linda went missing in August of 2000 in the middle of a custody battle with David. Her skeleton was found in the desert in October 2003. David’s second wife, Rosemary, initially provided him with alibis for the times of the disappearance and murders. She recanted the alibis after their relationship soured. David was arrested for all three murders in 2015. 15 years after Linda disappeared. Antonio López de Santa Anna led Mexico in the Mexican-American War in which the US troops were the conquerors. To end the war, Mexico ceded over 500K square miles of territory to the US, including California and most of Arizona and New Mexico. Tucson is now part of Arizona thanks to the Gadsden Purchase. Santa Anna signed the purchase treaty for Mexico to help pay for expenses incurred during the Mexican-American War. Santa Anna lost a leg in the first Pastry War, sometimes called the cake war. Arizona has a large mining industry. Linda Watson’s skull was discovered near the Silver Bell Mine.

I believe this is 1051 E. Mossman Road, Tucson, Arizona. On March 19, 1976, Tommie Waller showed up at the house with a birthday cake for her daughter, Donna Marie Smith, who lived in the home with her boyfriend, Bruce Allen McCullough. Mrs. Waller and a man with her found Donna lying on the floor in a pool of congealed blood. Her head had been bashed in and it was evident she had been dead several days. Donna was planning on moving out of the house because of something she had found out about McCullough, but she was afraid to let him know she was leaving.
McCullough was the prime suspect, but he disappeared during the investigation and began living under an assumed name. He was finally identified and arrested in California in 2013, 37 years after the murder.
The Arizona state flag features 13 rays of red and yellow symbolizing the Spanish conquistadores (conquerors), who explored this part of America. It also features a copper-colored star, representing copper mining because Arizona is the top producer of copper in the US.
