Second Clue: holiday _______
First Clue: pudding _______
Please read carefully before attempting to name the Location.
Following is the primary clue for Mystery Location No. 349: “An invisible thing entered her room two nights ago and smothered the life out of her.” – Dr. Joseph Bell, Dr. Bell and Mr. Doyle: The Dark Beginnings of Sherlock Holmes.
The small two-story brick home in the city named for a foreign capital is nothing like those frequented by Sherlock Holmes, but the death that occurred therein was just as puzzling.
Each day, a new clue will be posted until someone names the location, providing the street address, city and state, as well as the room or apartment number, if applicable, (or province/country if located outside the US) and an explanation as to how each clue applies to the location. If no one correctly names the location, the contest will end at midnight (Eastern time), Saturday, April 22, 2023. Please note, the contest ends at midnight in the Eastern Time Zone. If you live in a different time zone, please make adjustments so you will know what time it ends where you are.
You may discuss the location with other members by posting your comments using the “reply” option, but please do not attempt to name the location until you are absolutely certain of your answer and you are able to post the street address, city, state, etc., along with a photo, or link to a photo, of the Location.
For those of you who remember our old Mystery Locations contest, the point system has changed. Now, if you name the location on the first day, i.e., before the first clue is posted, you will receive 7 points. Thereafter, the points will depend upon the number of clues that have been provided when you name the Location as indicated below. If you name the Location after the first clue, you will receive 6 points, etc., as indicated below. However, after the Sixth (last clue) is provided on Saturday, you must name the location before midnight (EST) Saturday night. Upon accumulation of sufficient points, winners may choose an item from our Prize List.
Sunday (or before First Clue is provided) - 7 points First Clue (Monday) - 6 points Second Clue (Tuesday) - 5 points Third Clue (Wednesday) - 4 points Fourth Clue (Thursday) - 3 points Fifth Clue (Friday) - 2 points Sixth Clue (Saturday before midnight) - 1 point
If you wish, you may collaborate with another member and if the two of you win, points will be divided between the two of you.
This contest is meant to be fun, so, as before, we ask that you conduct yourself accordingly. To prevent any accusations of favoritism, Joanna has been advised of the name and address of the Location and will not be participating in this week’s contest.

I think this is 860 Yorkshire Drive, Lima, Ohio. On September 4, 2006, which was the Labor Day holiday, Dr. Mark Wangler called 911 and said he had been awakened by the carbon monoxide alarm and found his wife, who was sleeping in an upstairs bedroom, unconscious. She was pronounced dead at the hospital. Wangler blamed a faulty gas-powered hot water, however, he and his wife weren't getting along and he had recently found out she had run up $60,000 in credit card debt and opened a bank account of her own.
He was an anesthesiologist and his wife's family believed he killed her. Inspectors couldn't find anything wrong with the hot water heater, and in 2009, Wangler was charged with his wife's murder. He was convicted and sentenced to 25 years to life. His second wife and two sons (by his first wife) still believe he is innocent. This case has been shown on Dateline several times and it was also on 48 Hours. The city of Lima was named for the capital of Peru.
The street is named Yorkshire, and Yorkshire pudding is a popover the British often serve with roast beef.

In the movie, the husband connected a rubber hose from the gas line in one room to his wife's bedroom. She was afraid because they had moved into a house where a serial killer had smothered his victims to death.

Robin Laing, who played Doyle in the pilot, was much better in the role than Charles Edwards, who assumed the role in the subsequent shows. With the exception of The Patient's Eyes, I didn't find the episodes starring Edwards of particular interest.

I have the pilot and the other four on DVD and Dr. Bell and Mr. Doyle and The Patient's Eyes are the only ones I ever watch. I'm thinking of donating the other three to the Mystery Locations Prize List.
Congratulations, Catherine. I don't know why I didn't make the connection because I've seen that Dateline show at least a half-dozen times. It was on again the other night, but I didn't watch it.

Congratulations, Catherine. I don't know why I didn't make the connection because I've seen that Dateline show at least a half-dozen times. It was on again the other night, but I didn't watch it. I liked Dr. Bell and Mr. Doyle, although there were things that weren't explained, like why Canning poisoned his wife with gas. I suppose we're supposed to believe it was because she was scared the place was haunted because of the murders, but it would have been much easier to just move to another house than kill his wife and risk being hanged. I ordered the DVD and then ordered the Murder Rooms series, even though The Patient's Eyes was the only one I really liked. Charles Edwards wasn't believable as Arthur Conan Doyle. Robin Laing was much better in the role.
