This has to be the Cedar Lodge, Room 509, 9966 Highway 140, El Portal, California. On February 15, 1999, Carole Sund, her daughter Juli Sund, 15, and Silvina Pelosso, 16, an Argentinian exchange student, stopped at the motel just outside the entrance of Yosemite National Park. Cary Stayner, who was employed by the motel as a maintenance man, claimed he had to check a leak in order to get into their room, where he strangled Mrs. Sund and Silvina Pelosso, and raped Julie Sund and later slashed her throat. A few months later, he murdered another woman. He was convicted and sentenced to death in 2002, but California being California, it's safe to say he'll never be executed.

Stayner claimed he had communicated with the man-beast Bigfoot.

"El Portal" means "the gateway" in Spanish.
