This is another great series, in my opinion, from Netflix.
The original book by the same title by Shirley Jackson, has only a little to do with this story. Some lines from the book are used, and certain characters, such as the caretakers, remain the same although they play a more major role, and some artistic liberties where taken with their involvement. Other than those things, it is a story on its own.
I found the first couple of episodes a bit confusing, because it is one of those shows that jumps around, and back and forth, in the timeline.
It is has some super creepy scenes without being too cheezy, which is one of the reasons I liked it so much. Also, I thought most of the acting was believable and very well done.
Victoria Pedretti, from the the Netflix series "You" as well as others, plays the youngest daughter in this series, and I thought she was spectacular. Carla Gugino, who plays the mother, was amazing as well.

I saw the The Haunting of Hill House made in 1963 when I was a teen and it was a good movie. The second one, where the house turned out to be a modern insane asylum, was on TV and it was so awful I wasn't able to watch it all the way through. I may watch the one on Netflix, but the reviews I've read haven't been good. I hope it's not like The Bell Witch movie that blamed everything on the girl being sexually assaulted by her father.

That was terrible LOL!

I do have to add that I wasn't thrilled with the ending. It wasn't awful, but the rest of the series was so good that I did expect more form the ending.

No, I think you are thinking of the Bell Witch movie. That was terrible LOL! Yeah, I'm probably thinking of some other movie.
I noticed in some old posts that you're a ghost hunter and you've been to some ghost conferences. Have you been to any of those listed on the Ghost/Paranormal Events calendar? If so, could you give us some idea of what they're like? Here's the link: whatliesbeyond.boards.net/thread/14284/ghost-paranormal-events-january-june

Here's the link: whatliesbeyond.boards.net/thread/14284/ghost-paranormal-events-january-juneOf the ones on the list, I've been to only one, the Haunted America Conference. This is Troy Taylor's conference. It was just ok. I wouldn't do it again. I think they are all similar though. They usually feature a bunch of vendors of ghost hunting books, equipment, etc. They usually feature guest speakers that are "celebrity" ghost hunters, authors, and other well known in people in the ghost hunting world. Sometimes they offer Q&A sessions with them. Then they usually have some kind of "pay extra" after hours ghost hunt with the celebs. I've also been to a couple conferences held at the Stanley Hotel. Those were fun, but expensive. Same format really, but with a better caliber of featured guests. If you are looking to do serious ghost hunting though, conferences really aren't great for that. The ghost hunts are usually too crowded to really get to just sit quietly and observe. They limit the number of people on the ghosts hunts, but there are still always too many, in my experience. There are usually at least a couple of people in every group who act like scared children, running around screaming. It's more about hanging out with the celebrities and enjoying a spooky place. I might try the Oregon conference this year because it is so close to me and falls on my birthday. However, I say this every year and then never go LOL!

Have you taken a look at that ugly, glass, modern monstrosity where it's going to be held? I also live in the Pacific Northwest and I'm going to wait till the fall and see if there's a conference at some spooky location. I'm not interested in ghost hunting, I just like ghosts.

If you see anything interesting being held in the in the fall, please let me know. I'll do the same.

Scroll down and there's a photo of the Seaside Civic Center where the Oregon Conference is going to be held. I'm sure there will be a lot of other ghost events on the Pacific coast when the July through December list is posted. www.oregonghostconference.com/

A few years back, there was a convention in Oregon City (not sure of it was the Oregon Ghost Conference, or another), where there are many quaint, old, spooky downtown buildings that are supposedly haunted. They hold ghost walks there in October every year.
