San Francisco Woman Dragged to Death by Dog LeashOn Monday (Sept. 13) a little after 3 p.m., 41-year-old Amy Adams was killed by a BART train departing the Powell Street station in San Francisco when she was dragged onto the track by a dog leash wrapped around her waist. The other end of the leash was attached to a German shepherd wearing a “service animal” vest.
Adams and the dog boarded a train bound for Dublin/Pleasanton, but as the doors were closing, she suddenly decided to exit the train, but the dog did not follow, an indication it wasn’t a trained service animal.
Heather Griffin, who witnessed the incident, said she saw a woman holding onto a German shepherd outfitted in a vest. Following the incident, Griffin took the dog to a BART official, during which time she noticed it had no collar or tags indicating it belonged to Adams.
Leashed or harnessed service dogs are allowed on BART trains, however, other animals must be in carriers. Many people circumvent the rules by outfitting their dogs in fake service vests.Sources: KTVU, September 13, 2021; and Amy Hollyfield and Melanie Woodrow, KGO-TV, September 15, 2021.

Why is it that some people today can't go anywhere without their damned dogs? Like the article says, if this dog didn't follow its owner, then it wasn't a service dog, thus, it shouldn't have been on the train in the first place.
