Trespassing Ghost Hunter Falls 15 to 20 Feet A 35-year-old ghost hunter trespassing at the old Buffalo Central Terminal in Buffalo, New York, on the night of Saturday, July 31, fell through a roof and plunged 15 to 20 feet. The unnamed woman sustained multiple injuries and was transported to Erie County Medical Center. Her ghost-hunting partner, a male, was not injured.
The 17-story Art Deco structure, built in the 1920s, opened in 1927 and ceased operation in 1979 when the last passenger train passed through more than 40 years ago.
The building is considered a hotbed of paranormal activity and its notoriety increased exponentially after the TV show Ghost Hunters broadcast a six-hour live program from the former train station. Paranormal investigators believe the location is a “highly emotional place” because during World War II, the bodies of fallen soldiers, shipped from the foreign lands where they died, were held at the station until loved ones claimed them.
Although the ghost hunters were trespassing, at this time, neither has been charged.Sources: Helen Elfer, The Independent, August 4, 2021; Matt Glynn, The Buffalo News, August 1, 2021, and Paul Ross, WKBW. August 1, 2021.
