Halloween Spooky House Photo Contest 2020!
This year’s Halloween Spooky House Photo Contest begins today (October 12). All you have to do is find and submit a photo of an extant (currently standing) residential house (i.e., built as a single-family dwelling) that looks spooky. You are not required to provide the street address of your submission, but you must provide the name of the city and state/province (or city and country if not located in the U.S. or Canada) where it is located. Please note: your submission must be a photograph of the house, not a painting or drawing. Photos of old castles, churches, government buildings, hotels, etc., or houses no longer in existence, will not be accepted.
You may submit your photo via PM (by sending the photo itself or a link to such photo) to either Joanna or me (graveyardbride) and we will post them. This way, when we vote, no one will know who submitted which photo. The deadline for submissions is midnight (EDT) Friday, October 23. Voting will begin Saturday, October 24, so that we’ll have a winner in time for Halloween. The winner will be allowed to choose a book or DVD from our Prize List.
If you have any questions or comments, please use the “reply” option.
You should search for a spooky-looking old house something like the one in the photo (below) of the dwelling in Scituate, Massachusetts, that starred as the “house” in the movie The House by the Cemetery. For additional examples, scroll through the submissions in last year’s contest, but please do not submit a photo of any of those houses unless you submitted it. Photos of spooky old houses are easy to find.
Please attempt to find a photo that doesn’t include vehicles, people, animals, road signs, or other distractions. If you can’t find a good photo of the house you want to submit without vehicles, or whatever, I can remove unwanted objects, but the process is time-consuming.
