For Sale: Buffalo Bill House from The Silence of the Lambs“Buffalo Bill,” the sinister tailor in the 1991 horror classic The Silence of the Lambs, lived in an old three-story brick home that’s actually located at 8 Circle Street in Perryopolis, Pennsylvania, and now it can be yours. Yes, the infamous house is for sale again – it last sold in 2016 – and the asking price is a mere $298,500.
The 4-bedroom, 1-bath home stands on 1.76 acres in a small town on the Youghiogheny River. Built in 1910, the home features original hardwood floors, woodwork, pocket doors and fireplaces, all of which, along with light fixtures and wallpaper, are in pristine condition. Recent improvements include the addition of a gazebo, rose garden and fountain and a new hot water tank, well pump and UV filter.
The oversized 3-car detached garage was once the Layton Station General Store and the well-maintained building has endless possibilities. There’s also a vintage caboose near the in-ground pool and ceramic tile deck.
The film, starring Jodie Foster as FBI Agent Clarice Starling, Anthony Hopkins as cannibal Hannibal Lecter, and Ted Levine as James Gumb, aka Buffalo Bill, has a significant following and if listed on Airbnb, the property could be turned into a major tourist attraction. Others, however, may simply enjoy the peaceful, rural setting in close proximity to Pittsburgh.
