Mystery Location No. 86: February 4, 2018

I didn't think I'd ever find this guy's name. He was Michael W. "Mike" Murphy, born December 15, 1942, and he played defensive linebacker on the varsity football team. In early January of 1964, he fell in the 4th floor bathroom and hit his head, some say on the corner of a sink. It knocked him out and he was taken to the hospital, where he remained unconscious until his death on February 7, 1964, of pneumonia. Following his death, students reported seeing blood covering the floor of the bathroom when they first opened the door and he was also heard and felt in the 4th floor hall. Supposedly, the 4th floor bathroom was closed off because of the haunting, but I don't know if that's a fact, or just a story someone told.

His parents established a scholarship in his honor called the Michael Murphy Award for Outstanding Collegiate Citizenship that is presented every year to a Carroll College student.

Congratulations reportertype and Jason. I was the assistant this week for the Mystery Location and when Lee told me the name of the guy, I tried to find it, but never did. The closest I came was finding out that there was an award by that name.
