Naked Witch 'Feeds' on Deer Carcass
Corinea Stanhope of Powell River, British Columbia, caught what she believes to be a naked witch gnawing on the hoof of a dead deer on a trail camera. The 36-year-old mother of three, who owns horses, found the deer carcass on her property and she and a family member decided to install a trail camera to see what sort of wild animals would be attracted to the carrion. When she and her 76-year-old grandfather checked the camera, they were initially excited to see a bobcat, “which was pretty cool,” she admitted.
However, the following day, the elderly man told his granddaughter the camera had caught a naked woman on the property. Stanhope, a nurse and mother of three, admitted she thought he was bullshitting her until he showed her what appeared to be “two witches holding a carcass-eating ritual,” which, she said, “really freaked us out. It’s not something you see every day.”
Although she was admittedly “creeped out,” she was more concerned about trespassers messing with her three horses at night. “The horses always get really spooked and unnerved around that area,” she recalled. “I thought they imagined stuff at first, so I didn’t think anything of it. Maybe I believe them now.”
The photos show the two females, one wearing only a loin cloth and the other in pants and boots, loitering around the dead animal. The nude woman then squats, picks up one of the deer’s hooves and appears to take a bite. “You can’t really tell from the photos, but the hoof was brought right up to her mouth. ... I don’t know if she was kissing it, smelling or eating it, but to touch a decaying carcass like that makes me feel sick,” Stanhope admitted. “The amount of bacteria that must have been on there ... Maybe they were paying their respects but she was naked ... I don’t know what the heck was up with that. ... They came 10 minutes after sunset. They looked disheveled.” The two women were likely wearing wigs and their faces were hidden by their unkempt hair.
Stanhope, however, decided not to contact the police after her grandfather convinced her they hadn’t done anything technically illegal.
Nonetheless, she did post the photos on social media, where they have garnered quite a few interesting responses:
“That’s basically a walking demon from hell,” one individual wrote. “If you hear screaming stay inside and get a gun ....”
Another theorized the witches were actually “skinwalkers” or “wendigoes,” both of which are malevolent supernatural entities from American Indian folklore.
According to Stanhope, following the incident, a friend told her he came across two people in the woods carrying dead squirrels. There also have been reports of a coven of either witches or Satanists in the area. “There’s rumors around town about a cult that collects animal bones,” Standhope added. “I don’t know if it’s real or not.”
Others are convinced the entire episode is nothing more than a prank pulled by someone who saw Stanhope and her grandfather installing the cameras and decided it would be fun to play a prank on them.
