'Bigfoot' Warning Signs in PennsylvaniaSince last summer, official-looking signs, purportedly posted by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, have been spotted on trees in state parks. The signs, printed in both English and Spanish, warn park visitors to “be cautious” because of “encounters in the area of a creature resembling ‘Bigfoot.’”
While those who see the hairy man are instructed to “report sightings to a ranger, front office or to the DCNR Office of Missing Persons,” they also are warned not to “post sightings on social media.”
“These signs were not posted by DCNR,” agency spokesperson Wesley Robinson, who claims “Bigfoot is not real,” told an Inquirer reporter. Furthermore, there is no “Office of Missing Persons” in the DCNR, he added.
“We have seen them [the signs] at parks and forests since the late summer,” he continued. “They are removed when they are reported or found by staff because they have not been authorized by DCNR.”
According to the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization, there have been 124 credible Bigfoot sightings in Pennsylvania, which ranks 12th among the states where one is most likely to encounter the elusive creature. How clever! Now that someone has thought of doing this, I bet there'll be some copycats.
