Mystery Location No. 294: February 27, 2022

This has to be Blessed Trinity Catholic School, aka St. Michael School, 174 S. Military Road, Dane Wisconsin. On the night of March 3/4, 1998, Father Alfred Kunz, 67, was murdered in the hall near his living quarters in the school. His throat was slit and that night, the moon was in the sign Taurus, which rules the neck and throat. At the time of his murder, there had been a string of thefts of religious objects in the area and some believed he had encountered a burglar. The case has never been solved.

Mora Smith, a waitress and self-proclaimed psychic who knew Kunz, claimed she had a dream about the murder before it happened and this automatically made her a suspect. She was later cleared.

In 1973, the top-grossing movie was the horror film The Exorcist, and Fr. Kunz was something of a renegade priest who sometimes performed exorcisms without church authorization.

St. Michael is an angel, actually an archangel.

At the time of his murder, Kunz was investigating corruption in the Catholic church by what he believed was a network of homosexual priests covering up cases of child sexual abuse. Many believe he was killed because he was close to exposing some of these priests.
