I don't know if this is true, but I heard that a woman who committed suicide had just been banned by some Reddit subs that she'd been in for some time. One of them had something to do with death, or bereavement and the other was about true crime. I know some people in Tennessee were murdered for unfriending a woman on Facebook, but has anyone else heard of someone committing suicide after being banned by a social media site?

I read somewhere recently about a family suing Snapchat because of someone who committed suicide. I can see how it could happen if a person is already depressed, especially if they were seeking help on a site about death or bereavement. I've also read several articles about how social media contributes to depression and other mental health problems.

It's usually teenagers who get extremely depressed from social media, but I could see how it could happen to an adult who was already depressed from a death in the family or some other crisis. It's hard to believe a site about death and bereavement would ban people when they know that most of the those who post on those sites are probably already grieving or possibly suicidal.

A few years ago when that ridiculous documentary, "The Keepers," was on Netflix, my mother was banned by some true crime reddit sub. It may have been r/unresolvedmysteries, because those mods are all nutcases -- I got banned for using the word "queer," as in "quaint," because they said it was homophobic! Anyway, both users and mods attacked anyone who expressed any doubt about what those women said, so if someone even mildly unstable who had been in that sub for a while was attacked and banned, I can see how it might drive them over the edge.

It's easy for moderators on any site to target and harass people. You would think that on a site like Reddit, where it seems the majority of those who post are suffering from some sort of mental disorder, the moderators would be more careful, but they're not, most of them are vicious, liberal bitches, who delight in bullying and banning anyone who dares disagree with them. Those suffering from major depression or some other mental disorder can be easily pushed over the edge, even by something as seemingly insignificant as getting banned by some overzealous moderator.
