Texas Man Uses Ghost Hunting Ruse to Sexually Assault Women
David Lynn Turner, a 46-year-old Houston man, is accused of luring women to remote locations, ostensibly to hunt ghosts, and sexually molesting them. He was arrested May 4, charged with two counts of sexual assault and is being held in the San Jacinto County Jail on $500,000 bond.
Detectives in San Jacinto and Montgomery counties believe Turner began his ruse in December 2018, targeting women in Beaumont, Galveston, Katy, The Woodlands, Coldspring and Livingston. He allegedly drove his victims to remote locations under the guise of ghost hunting, but instead of searching for ghosts, he forced himself upon the women, committing various sexual acts against their will. “Turner had used multiple social media platforms and dating apps to target his victims under the ruse of ghost hunting,” a spokesman for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said. “These victims loved the thrill of the supernatural, of ghost hunting or the supernatural, so they were interested in what David had to say about that, so they joined him in an isolated rural area in San Jacinto County.”
Of note, Turner worked two years – in 2012 and 2015 – as a reserve Texas Peace Officer in Harris County.
Authorities are convinced there are other victims who haven’t come forward and urge any woman victimized by Turner, or anyone with information concerning the assaults, to contact either the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office at (936) 653-4367, or the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at (936) 760-5800. Those who wish to remain totally anonymous may also call the Multi-County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-STOP [7867].
