Full Flower Moon: Sunday, April 29The month of April winds down as the Full Flower Moon rises in the skies, reaching its full phase at 8:58 p.m. (EDT).
According to The Old Farmer’s Almanac, “Flower Moon” is one of the names Colonial Americans picked up from the American Indians, though some Algonquin tribes called it the Corn Planting Moon or Milk Moon – “milk” was probably a reference to milkweed. The Ontario Native Literacy Coalition notes that while the Ojibwe tribes of the Great Lakes area used the term Flower Moon (“Waawaaskone Giizis”), people of the Cree Nation in northern Montana and parts of Canada called it the Frog Moon because this was the time of year frogs became active.
To experience the full effect of April’s Moon, moonrise Sunday evening is as follows:
Eastport, Maine: 7:08 p.m. Tuscaloosa, Alabama: 7:19 p.m. Bismark, North Dakota: 8:32 p.m. Salt Lake City, Utah: 8:09 p.m. Yorba Linda, California: 7:26 p.m.Sources: WLOX, April 27, 2018; Space.com; and The Old Farmer’s Almanac.

I hope the skies are clear so I can enjoy tonight's moon. Lately, it seems it's always cloudy on the night of the full moon.
