I have read on different sites that dreams can have different meanings and interpretations, based on who is designing the site's content. Some of the dream interpretations are similar to those in other sites, but others are quite different, so I would not know whose interpretation to believe.

A lot of dream analysis books are based on either Jungian or Freudian principles. Jung said there are universal archetypes and Freud said they revealed repressed feelings, memories.
I think they are both right and the dreamer can often figure out what the dream is telling them by paying close attention and looking at the dream imagery and how it relates to them personally.
An example of the jungian primciple: before my life changed in the sense that my career moved in a different direction I had to lose a job that I thought I loved. Prior to this happening I had a dream that my head of department and boss were with me in a room when there was an earthquake. I didn't know till it happened that the dream was prophetic and telling me my world with them would crumble to pieces. It did, but out of that I got my dream job.
The best thing I find is to work out your own dream language. How do the things in your dreams make you feel, what do the objects mean to you, and if possible, just enjoy them.
Jungian influences tell us there are common dreams that many have, such as the mansion of the soul. I love the dreams I have where I am in a big house. Dream dictionary books can give you an idea, but you are the best person to work it out for yourself.

Do you think that prophetic dreams like the one you had about the earthquake are related to the principles of Jung and Freud? Those types of dream interpretations go back to pre-Biblical times.

I wonder if Jung and Freud put words and structure to the phenomena that people experienced? I haven't studied it that extensively so they may be others who also did that. After all, there has been dreaming as long as there have been humans. There is also the take that other cultures put on it, as in the dreamtime of the aborigines.
i think people have always sought to make sense of dreams in one way or another. I think that in the tiny piece of that action that is us in the twenty first century with our self help books and dream dictionaries, Jung and Freud are significantly influential.
My personal view about dreams is that they are the key to our own being and well being. If we feel inclined to engage with the supernatural, it is also a vehicle for that, but purely psychologically it is the way we mentally deactivate. I have had a few dreams over the years about 'ghosts', and because I do believe in them I believe they were trying to communicate that way. But sceptics would say my mind was just reacting to something I had read or seen and it was nothing to do with spirit.
We all have brains, minds, and some people believe souls, but it is all quite subjective as with some of it there is the same leap of faith required to believe in God. I think it is all part of the human condition and wish to keep an open mind about it.

I don't know much about what Jung and Freud had to say about dreams either, but everything Freud said usually had something to do with sex. Jung, I believe, was more open-minded and analytical..

Demdike: I do think that she more than likes me. I if you read on through the other parts of my experiences (and there is more that I have not written yet) you will see that. She told me that she doesn't know if she is capable of love, but during that period she was sure acting like she did. She has been an important part of my life, no doubt - besides the fact that she saved my life more than once. Sometimes I looked forward to the thrill of her being there, but in the early days she really scared me.. and even later on most times I was hardly calm. My wife and kids were and are terrified of her, they avoid the subject completely and as she does not make herself known to them anymore the subject rarely comes up. I still have the original Ouija board that we used the very first time she appeared, but it does not come in to the house - my wife forbids it. I thought about burning it but I can't - what if that is the key to her and some day I want to call her again? She used to come when I just called her, no need for the board or anything else, so I don't know - but I also don't want to risk it.
I never fought the dreams, feelings, 'visions' if you will, and like my mother there have been many times when I know what will happen before it does. There are times when a deja vu is so strong I know what people will say, what they will do, what will happen.. sometimes I just stop to 'remember' the outcome and then either change it or not depending. So I would say I embraced it a long time ago! I'll have to look back through the parts I wrote on here and what is in my diary that I have not shared to see if I entered all the main dreams, but really there were so many involving Sue that I never wrote down.. unless they were odd, involved the future, or were the ones that saved my life.

It did take a change, and that may have been my desire to put an end to her being able to come into my house. I had older children that were scared of the noises in the house; knocks, glasses moving (clink, clink, in the kitchen with no one there),giggles, etc. and at that time she was also out in public, that she was not just 'mine' anymore but interacting with others, and the fear of her being jealous and going after my family was very real to me. I don't believe that it is only through Jesus that we can be saved; I think good people are good people no matter who they pray or don't pray to.. but it may be that some of the things that haunt us do have to listen to something that may also be seen as supernatural. That first time I did the cleansing bit it did seem to work for quite a while even if that may have just been a mind over matter thing, but eventually Sue and maybe another did come back in the house. I never added the next part of my experiences, I'll find the time soon though.

Demdike; I didn't and still don't know how to explain a lot of this really so people will understand. Sue terrified me, seeing her in mirrors or windows and knowing that she was right there.. the cliché of your hair standing up and your blood turning to ice is close but not really enough. She was in my hotel room in Germany just last week, at least it felt like her - the lights when on and off a couple times, and she opened some cabinets in the bathroom but she didn't show herself or talk.. and that fear was right there. An instant chill and you immediately freeze and wish you could run. I wish I could write, I would have written a book about this. Fiction based on a true story.. I don't know if I can make a novel about it, this happened over such a long period of time and my experiences changed as we both changed.
For quite a while I saw her as a burden, that is a good word for how it felt, but then when she saved me (or I used her to save myself) that thought of her being a burden faded. Her bothering others, the possessions of Natanya and others later, did make me regret ever calling her.. coming after or to me was one thing but bothering or maybe hurting others was another. I have lived with it, still do, and as long as she continues not bothering others I am fine with it.
I would like to research where she came from, but when time goes by without visits I tend to avoid any thoughts of her as much as possible. But as she just visited again and here I am discussing her, I might as well!
Peace to you and yours as well! Mark

Do you mean that she just visited as in the past few nights? What would you say is the average time between visits? Also, do you think that talking or posting about her causes her to appear?

I'm looking forward to Mark's answer to your question. I've heard that ghosts appear to people who open their minds to them, though I've known people who didn't even believe in ghosts who saw them, so I'm not sure that's true. But with a repetitive spirit, or whatever it is, that Mark sees, thinking and posting about her could entice her to appear.

Hi Mark. I'm a Catholic and my priest is very strongly against using Ouija boards, for this very reason. The Catholic church has priests in each diocese that are specially trained in exorcism. On the couple of occasions that I've been with my priest doing spirit clearings in nursing homes he has done a watered down version of an exorcism, with the promise that if that didn't work he'd bring in the heavy guns - the exorcist. If you don't like having your lady ghost around I suggest you contact your local Catholic church. They'll get rid of her. But I think you like having her around? I had a little girl ghost in my house when my children were little. I think she followed us home one day because she wasn't there to start with. She used to collect little shiny objects and hide them in strange places. I asked her if she'd like to come with us when we moved, but she didn't.

Most Catholic priests are strongly against Ouija boards, but I'm told that the Episcopal Church in the United States views them as nothing more than a harmless pastime. I'm in my 70s and I started using a Ouija board around age 10 and have used them sporadically through the years and never had any problems. In my experience, the people who believe they raise evil spirits and convince themselves that they are possessed are usually Catholic or from a family that is deeply religious.
Exorcisms don't always work. A lot depends on whether the person being haunted believes it will work. But, like you said, Mark doesn't want to get rid of his ghost. He's formed a relationship with her and after all this time, he would miss her.

Hi Mark, my understanding of the astral plane is that it's fabric is thought and emotion, so your strong emotions towards this daemon, and your obsession with her, is making things worse by strengthening the bond. Just writing all this history down is strengthening her hold on you. If you really want to get rid of her go find a priest!

Not all ghosts are demons. Some are spirits of the dead.

I think ghosts are all dead people but this creature said that Mark summoned it from the dark. I might not have read all his posts carefully but I don't think the creature spoke about her life as a human. The manipulative way that it tries to bind Mark by saying it is keeping his wife and children safe and that without its intervention dangerous spirits would be after them smacks to me of the sort of thing daemons do. It's malicious for a start. Then there's the sexual seduction which is typical succubus. And that's daemon not demon. They've never been human and while not being entirely bad, they like to manipulate people out of vanity and the hope of getting power over them. As you probably guessed from my posts I am a Catholic but having read some of the famous accounts of children's encounters with visions of the Virgin Mary e.g. Fatima, Lourdes, Knock, I have to conclude that these are daemons too - I'm sure the real Virgin Mary wouldn't demand churches built in her honour. In these encounters the children see the vision and they call it Mary and then the creature agrees. The RC church may have misgivings, but is happy to go along with it because it increases the faith of the people. I think in classic times they were thought of as nature spirits.
