Some Floridians Believe Ted Cruz Could Be ‘Zodiac Killer’For nearly a decade, the mysterious Zodiac killer terrorized the Bay Area in California by brutally murdering young couples and then taunting police and the media with cryptic notes. The killer was never found – unless he's now a GOP presidential contender.
A rumor that the long-sought-after serial killer is actually Texas Senator Ted Cruz has been gaining steam on the web all winter to the point that Public Policy Polling asked Florida voters about the subject in its latest poll. And PPP found that a sizable chunk of Floridians – open-minded folk that we are – refused to rule out the possibility that Cruz might just be a ruthless butcher. Only 10 percent of Floridians polled said they’re certain Cruz is the Zodiac Killer – because most of us need more evidence, obviously. But another 28 percent checked “not sure” on that particular question. Barely 60 percent were willing to totally exonerate Cruz.
It’s hard to explain how the Cruz-as-Zodiac story got so much momentum except to say it’s the internet. The Daily Dot claims it all began with this joke on Twitter in 2013: Red Pill America @redpillamerica #CPAC Alert: Ted Cruz is speaking!! His speech is titled: 'This Is The Zodiac Speaking' 6:06 PM - 14 Mar 2013
It’s since gone full meme, presumably to Cruz’s chagrin (or worry, if he is indeed a mass murderer on the lam).
Okay, to be fair, there’s some pretty strong evidence already that Cruz is not actually the Zodiac. For one thing, the Zodiac’s first murder took place in December 1968, which was two years before Cruz was born. Zodiac’s last murder came in the early 70s, when Cruz would have been a toddler. Details! If anything, PPPs survey shows that most Floridians don’t think highly enough of Cruz to clear him of a string of horrific murders without more concrete evidence.
The survey did have a few non-serial-killer findings of interest, though hometown candidate Marco Rubio will hope the Zodiac finding dominates the headlines. PPP finds Donald Trump absolutely walloping Rubio in Florida, with a 45-25 lead over the Miami native. Cruz, dogged by Zodiac fears, comes in a distant third, at 10 percent.
Rubio went hard at Trump last night in the last GOP debate and will hope his attacks even the spread a bit. But PPP found plenty of other worrying signs, including an awful approval rating for his work as a senator of only 31 percent. “Marco Rubio needs to hope tonight’s debate was a big game-changer,” Dean Debnam, PPP’s president, said in a release. “He was so weak going in that he couldn’t beat out Donald Trump one-on-one, even in Florida.” There is some good news for Rubio, though: No one suspects him of being a serial killer.

I haven't heard that he was the Zodiac killer, but I'm not surprised that a lot of people might think that he was. People believe all kinds of nutty things. I don't like or trust the man.

I guess that he's too young to be The Zodiac, but there's something sleazy about him and Marco Rubio. My state votes Tuesday and I won't be voting for either one of them.

I've heard about the rumor. Everyone who knows Ted Cruz hates him -- his roommates in college, other members of the senate, people who worked in campaigns with him, even his own family don't seem to like him all that much. It wouldn't surprise me if his father was the Zodiac. Here's a picture of him and 2 composites of the Zodiac killer. I couldn't find a photo of him from that time, but imagine him about 45 years younger and he could be the same person.

I can see a resemblance between the father and the Zodiac drawing. Someone should check to see where he was in the 60's when these murders happened. I don't like Ted Cruz and I wouldn't have voted for him anyway. From everything that I've heard about Cruz, he's a complete jerk. Florida votes on March 15th and I won't be voting for Cruz or Rubio.

This is a photo of Rafael Cruz when he was young. His resemblance to the Zodiac sketch is remarkable and he was living in California at the time The Zodiac was active.
Following is a link to the current Wikipedia entry for Rafael Cruz (Ted's father). See the second sentence below the heading which reads "The father of the zodiac killer."

Interesting, I live in Florida and had not heard of this rumor until now. Lee, I clicked on the Wikipedia link and didn't see mention of the "zodiac killer" so I am wondering if someone edited the entry and deleted mention of it.

Lee, I clicked on the Wikipedia link and didn't see mention of the "zodiac killer" so I am wondering if someone edited the entry and deleted mention of it. When I checked the link this morning, I saw the reference to the Zodiac on the Wiki page, but it's gone now, so I guess someone removed it. Anyone who donates money to Wiki can edit pages. It's possible that his father was the Zodiac. They do look an awful lot alike. My state votes tomorrow and I'm voting for Trump.

The Wikipedia entry for Ted Cruz also said he was a serial killer, but it's been changed, too. Here's a screenshot of the page:
For those of you too lazy to sign in to enlarge the screenshot, it says: "Rafael Edward 'Ted' Cruz (born December 22, 1970) is the Zodiac Killer and an American politician and the junior United States Senator from Texas."

I've seen where there are questions about his father's past, that he's lied about his education and the things he's done.
