Exeter UFO Festival: September 5-6, 2015
Thanks to the Exeter Area Kiwanis Club, the Exeter UFO Festival will be back this year (2015). The festival has been held in downtown Exeter for the past five years, drawing UFO enthusiasts from across the country and many parts of the globe. This festival is a major fundraiser for the Exeter Area Kiwanis Club. As with all Kiwanis fundraisers, 100% of the profits go to local children’s charities, and children’s and community programs. The Exeter Area Kiwanis Club relies on your generosity at its food and souvenir stands.
The festival is held in Exeter, in part, because of a famous 1965 incident wherein a UFO was seen flying around in the area. Also, New Hampshire is the location of the September 1961 Betty and Barney Hill incident in which the Hills claimed to have been abducted by aliens. Not only is the Exeter UFO Festival an educational experience for both believers and skeptics, it’s a fun time for families with activities for kids and a lecture series featuring a highly-esteemed panel of experts for adults.
Because of the expanded venue this year to accommodate the outstanding selection of speakers wishing to be present, we have found it necessary to charge a token admission fee. Exeter UFO buttons will go on sale later before the festiavl. Lectures and films will be held in the historic Exeter Town Hall. Festival activities, including food and souvenirs, will be available outside Town Hall and children’s activities will take place in Founder’s Park. On Thursday, September 3, from 8 to 10 p.m., a family-friendly science fiction will be held outside Town Hall (food, souvenirs, etc.) and there will be children’s activities in Founder’s Park next to the Exeter Public Library. On Thursday, September 3, from 8 to10 p.m., a family-friendly sci-fi film will be shown on a 2½- story inflatable movie screen.
This year’s speakers include:
Stanton Friedman (born July 29, 1934), a professional Ufologist who resides in Fredericton, New Brunswick (Canada). He is the original civilian investigator of the Roswell incident and worked as a nuclear physicist on research and development projects for several large companies. Friedman has consistently favored the term “flying saucer” in his work, saying “Flying saucers are, by definition, unidentified flying objects, but very few unidentified flying objects are flying saucers. I am interested in the latter, not the former.” At one time, he referred to himself as “The Flying Saucer Physicist” because of his degrees in nuclear physics and work on nuclear projects.
Richard Dolan is one of the world’s leading researchers and writers on the subject of UFOs and believes they constitute the greatest mystery of our time. He is the author of UFOs and the National Security State: Chronology of a Coverup, 1941-1973, published in 2000, and a followup volume, UFOs and the National Security State: Chronology of a Coverup, 1973-1991, published in 2009. His latest work, UFOs for the 21st Century Mind: A Fresh Guide to an Ancient Mystery, was published last year.
Jennifer Stein, who has a BS in science from the University of Arizona, will discuss crop circles. She will review some of the formations that have occurred historically in the United States and the research protocols applied in the examination of these mysterious circles.
