I just heard a strange story from a new co-worker. Late one night back in the 1980s, he and his family were driving on the same road where the Hill abduction happened and they were followed for miles by a bright light. He said that his father didn't really believe in things like UFOs, but that he seemed rattled by what happened. Later his dad ordered the kids not to tell anyone what they saw that night. I'm going to question him more about it when I get the chance. I've never heard of that area being a UFO hotspot, but does anyone know of any other similar sightings in the White Mountains? That is interesting. I've never heard anything about New Hampshire being a UFO hotspot, but a lot of places have strange lights, like the Brown Mountain Lights in NC and the Hornet Spook Light in Missouri. Maybe the White Mountains also have a spook light. Be sure to let us know if this guy tells you anything else about his experience.

You can drive for miles and never meet another car.

You can drive for miles and never meet another car. The guy who saw the strange light joined us after work one day and after a couple of beers, I asked him about what they saw that night. He was young at the time, but remembered the light seemed to be shining directly on them for minutes at the time and they never heard any sound at all like you would if it had been a helicopter. His parents talked about whether they should pull off the road, but his mother thought they would be safer if they kept moving. They intended to stop when they got to the next town, but before that, he said the light started getting smaller and dimmer, like the thing was moving straight up into the sky until it just disappeared. He said they kept looking for it to reappear, but they never saw it again. After it happened, he said his older brother started keeping clippings of UFO sightings and strange lights from newspapers and magazines, and his mother started reading everything she could find about the Hill abduction.

I've heard of people driving the Extraterrestrial Highway in Nevada being following by strange lights, but the lights they describe were much higher than what this guy describes. It sounds like whatever it was following his family was close enough to be shining some sort of search light directly into their car. His experience reminded me of "The UFO in Starks, Maine" and when I checked, I found out the Starks incident happened in 1981, so it could have been the same object. Did your friend say when the incident in the White Mountains happened? whatliesbeyond.boards.net/thread/6913/ufo-encounter-starks-maine

OK, we all know they weren't abducted by frigging space aliens, so what does everyone think really happened? While there's always a possibility that something else took place that night, I've always thought they made up the abduction story and then repeated it so often that they came to believe it themselves.

Why are you so sure they weren't abducted? You're probably right, but on a site like this, I would expect people to be a little more open minded.

I think something definitely happened that night. If they had made the whole thing up, I don't think they could have kept telling the same story for the rest of their lives.

Why are you so sure they weren't abducted? You're probably right, but on a site like this, I would expect people to be a little more open minded. I'm sure because aliens from outer space don't abduct people. I think most of us are fairly open-minded, but there's a difference between open-minded and gullible. For example, I believe in the possibility of ghosts, i.e., that the soul doesn't die along with the body. On the other hand, I'm not dumb enough to believe orbs are anything other than light refractions, that EVP is anything other than ordinary noises misinterpreted by some paranormal "expert," or any of the other ridiculous nonsense pushed by ghost hunters.
