Good. Once the jury sees the photos of that sick SOB in diapers, they'll be so disgusted they'll find him guilty.

Mark Redwine Trial Delayed, Now Set to Begin June 14
The trial of Mark Redwine for the murder of his 13-year-old son, Dylan Redwine, has been delayed again. Scheduled to begin April 12, the new trial date is June 14, 2021. During a recent pretrial hearing, Judge Jeffrey R. Wilson explained that COVID metrics have not changed sufficiently in La Plata County, Colorado, to hold the trial next month.
Dylan Redwine disappeared in 2012 while visiting his father. Both the boy and his mother objected to the visit, but the judge decided the elder Redwine was entitled to a “Thanksgiving visit” with his son. It is believed that shortly after arriving at Mark Redwine’s home, Dylan confronted his father concerning a series of disgusting photos that depicted Mark Redwine engaging in various perverse acts – in some of them he was wearing a diaper and eating feces. Dylan’s partial remains were finally discovered seven months later in June 2013 approximately 10 miles from his father’s home.
Mark Redwine remained free until 2017 when he was indicted on charges of second-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death.

Mark Redwine Murder Trial Set to Begin Monday, June 14
Jury selection begins Monday, June 14, in the trial of Mark Redwine, who is accused of killing his 13-year-old son, Dylan Redwine, in November 2012. The trial will take place in the La Plata County Courthouse in Durango, Colorado.
Redwine, now 58, was indicted on charges of second-degree murder in 2017 and the trial has been delayed several times. Most recently, it was scheduled to begin in January 2021, but was rescheduled for April because the Defendant was ill. In April, the trial was again delayed and reset for June.
During the investigation, Dylan Redwine’s blood was detected on the sofa, love seat, floor, coffee table and underneath the carpet in his father’s living room. Prosecutors are expected to recreate said living room during their presentation to the jury. Additionally, a cadaver dog alerted – detected the scent of a human corpse – in the living room, around the washing machine, on Mark Redwine’s clothing and in his pickup truck.
If jury selection proceeds as expected, the prosecution and defense should be able to give their opening statements on Monday, June 21.

This kid didn't want to visit his dad, but a judge ordered that he had to visit and his father murdered him. Is there any way to hold the judge accountable for his bad decision? Nothing happens to judges who make decisions that get people killed. A lot of women have been killed by abusive husbands and boyfriends because some clueless judge set a low bail instead of keeping them in jail. If a kid doesn't want to visit a parent, the judge should find out why before ordering a visit. I don't know who the judge was who ordered this boy to visit his crazy father, but I'll bet he or she is still on the bench doing the same thing.

Dylan Redwine’s Friends and Brother Testify in Trial of Mark Redwine
Following opening statements in the trial of Mark Redwine for the second-degree murder of his son, the prosecution called Ryan Nava, now 22, one of Dylan Redwine’s closest friends. In recalling the events of almost nine years ago, Nava said that the day before Dylan was reported missing, the two had made plans for a sleep-over, but Mark Redwine nixed those plans, so they agreed to meet early the following morning, but Dylan never showed up. The day after his last communication with Dylan, Mark Redwine came to his house looking for his son and Nava texted Dylan to let him know his father was looking for him.
Amanda Saxton, another of Dylan’s friends then testified that her last communication with Dylan was on the night of November 18, 2012, and she did not hear from him on November 19, or any day thereafter. She didn’t find out he was missing until she saw it on Facebook. “I was pretty shocked and I almost couldn’t believe it at first,” she admitted.
A third friend, Joseph Ceballos, told the jury that Dylan had a tendency to walk away from conflict, but all his friends agreed the boy would never have run away or hurt himself. (The defense contends Dylan ran away and was possibly attacked by a bear or mountain lion, citing what could be a “tooth mark” on the boy’s skull.)
Yet another friend, Cristen Baird, now 22, told the jury the only reason Dylan had any interest in going to Vallecito was to visit his friends. “He did not want to see his father,” the young woman insisted
Following the emotional testimony of Elaine Hall, Dylan’s mother, on Wednesday (June 23), Cory Redwine, the boy’s older brother, testified that after Dylan discovered the sordid pictures on his father’s computer, he “was pretty disgusted” and “lost any reason to look up to Mark that day.” Cory then recalled that during a subsequent visit in August 2012, after Mark Redwine told Dylan his mother and Cory weren’t good role models, his brother texted him:
Hey send me those poop pics of Papa because he gave me a speech about you guys being a bad example and I want to show him who he really is.
Cory Redwine declined to send the photos, explaining, “I didn’t want to fuel a bigger fire.” He received a total of seven messages from Dylan requesting the pictures, Cory added.
When Cory Redwine was asked about the discussion of the photos on The Dr. Phil Show, Judge Jeffrey Wilson interrupted the proceedings, indicating he needed to have a discussion with the attorneys before continuing.

Defense Offers Alternate Theories to Explain Dylan Redwine’s Death
It was almost five years after Dylan Redwine, 13, was reported missing on November 19, 2012, that Mark Redwine, his father, was finally charged with his son’s murder and arrested in July 2017. Then, because of the pandemic and other delays, it has been another four years before Redwine is finally facing a jury.
The trial, which began Monday, June 14, is now in its second week and while the prosecution is attempting to convince the jury it was an argument over sordid photographs of Mark Redwine, some of which showed him eating feces, that led to Dylan’s death, the defense has an altogether different explanation of what happened.
First, Redwine pled not guilty to the charge of murder in the second degree and continues to insist that when he returned to his home on the morning of Monday, November 19, after running errands, his son was gone.
John Moran, one of the public defenders representing Redwine, admitted to the fraught relationship between Dylan and his father over the compromising photographs from “deep within” Redwine’s personal life, but added that the child had also been unfairly influenced by the contentious custody battle between his parents. He then claimed Dylan had a habit of “walking away” from unpleasant situations and had been known to hitchhike in the past, suggesting the boy could have been picked up by the wrong person.
Alternatively, because of what appeared to be a tooth mark on the child’s skull, Johnson told the jury that Dylan could have been attacked and killed by a bear or mountain lion.
“Mr. Redwine is a flawed individual, but Dylan had agency. Dylan took off,” Moran continued. “Mr. Redwine ... in addition to being innocent, lost everything. He lost it all, and now he sits here with this demand for wrongful conviction.”

Witnesses Who Confronted Mark Redwine about Disgusting Photos Testify
On cross-examination, Cory Redwine, Dylan’s older brother, testified that in August 2012, he sent four photos showing his father [Mark Redwine] wearing a bra and soiled diaper and eating feces, along with a text messages calling him a “shit-eating coward” and telling him “you are what you eat.”
According to defense attorney John Moran, Redwine responded by calling Cory a thief and accusing him of trying to hurt him just like his mother [Elaine Hall]. Moran then pointed out that on that trip, Dylan, who knew about the photos, was not harmed, and alleged the prosecution’s claim that Mark Redwine killed his son in a fit of rage over the photos was a “made-up motive.”
Kathi Barry, a witness who did not know the Redwine family until she became involved in the search for Dylan, testified that her close friend, Diane Hess, now deceased, received a text message from Mark Redwine when Dylan’s remains were found. She and Hess, who had cancer at the time, subsequently drove to Redwine’s home to confront him about a text he’d sent to his ex-wife [Elaine Hall] in which he said he hoped her “colon cancer-riddled BFF” died and that she did, too. “I mean, she [Hess] knew Mark and she was upset about the text. Because he said something to her about cancer and the last breath, and he was laughing, she said, ‘Well, it will be my last breath and I will make you pay for what you did to Dylan.’”
Redwine was standing at the door and the two women, still inside their vehicle, began arguing and when Barry called him a “shit-eating-son-of-a-bitch,” he came toward the vehicle. “All of the sudden, he picked up this log, off like, a stove or an oven or something,” she recalled. “He picked up that log and he went ‘Aggh!’ and all I remember was, I don’t know if you’ve seen the cartoons where the eyes bulge out and all you can see is the whites of the eyes, but that’s all I saw. It scared the shit out of me,” she told the jury. According to Barry, she then hit the gas and yelled “Eat more shit!” to Redwine as they took off.
On cross-examination, Moran accused the women of picking a fight with a grieving father who had only hours earlier lost all hope of seeing his son alive again. Redwine, he suggested, picked up the log only for the purpose of inducing them to leave his property after he determined merely yelling at them had little effect.
Former CBI (Colorado Bureau of Investigation) agent Joe Clayton was called to the stand Thursday (June 24) morning. He testified that six samples collected at mark Redwine’s residence tested positive for blood. However, when he initially walked through the house, he said it did not appear a crime had taken place on the premises and couldn’t determine precisely how the bloodstains ended up where they did. “First and foremost was the blood under the carpet,” he explained. “If blood had been deposited on the carpet and soaked through, the carpet should have given me a positive reaction, but it didn’t. The blood on the couch and love seat, of course, they were dark brown leather to begin with, very difficult to see, not a lot of blood there, but it looked like it had been cleaned up, something had to happen there to make it that dilute. It was not just centralized in one place. If I had found stains in one area I would think you had a localized bloodletting event, but this indicates movement, you have it on various pieces of furniture and under a rug.”

The other day some people were talking about this case and wondering how anyone could develop such a disgusting habit. But when you think about it, people who own dogs and walk around behind them waiting for them to crap and cleaning up dog crap in their houses and yards are coprophiliacs, so it isn't exactly a rare condition.

Stepfather Provides Damaging Testimony in Redwine Trial
Earlier this week, Michael Hall, Dylan Redwine’s stepfather, testified that in April 2013, when the area where the boy’s bones were eventually found was about to be searched, he observed Mike Redwine racing down Middle Mountain Road and he [Hall] followed the other man until they reached pavement. Redwine’s actions were so bizarre, Hall continued, that he placed video surveillance cameras along the road and turned the video over to the authorities.
Nonetheless, it wasn’t until three months later that investigators located at least three of Dylan’s bones, scraps of a T-shirt, earbuds, an elastic band from a pair of male underwear and a shoe and sock. A tuft of hair was also discovered, but it was unclear if it was that of the boy. Dylan’s cellphone, iPod, backpack and wallet have never been found.
Earlier, the jury heard the testimony of Upper Pine River Deputy Fire Chief Roy Vreeland, who said it was just above 40 degrees when he received notification that a child was missing and realized it would be getting dark soon. When Mark Redwine opened the door to first-responders, Vreeland recalled he appeared “disheveled,” but seemed “laid-back” and “nonchalant.”

Mark Redwine Sent Dylan Four Messages the Day of His Disappearance
On this, the first day (June 6) of the second week of the trial of Mark Redwine, electronic forensics expert Patrick Beyer, now with the U.S. Secret Service, was called to testify concerning his analysis of communications between Mark Redwine and his son Dylan.
Beyer testified that on Sunday, November 18, 2012, when Elaine Hill, Dylan’s mother, texted him and asked if he’d arrived, he replied “yes” with a frownie-face emoji.
The boy’s last communication was on the night of November 18, the day before his father reported him missing. Later that night, when Dylan was supposed to have been getting ready for bed at his father’s cabin, Elaine Hill repeatedly attempted to contact her son, but there was no reply.
The following day, Mark Redwine sent the following messages:
8:14 a.m. - Hey bud, out of the office, call me. 8:15 a.m. - Hey you, call me please. 11:23 a.m. - Dyl, I am home and you’re nowhere to be found. Come back so I can get you to Bayfield. At least call me, k? 2:33 p.m. - Dylan, you need to call me. Where are you?
Beyer said the relationship between the boy and his father seemed strained in the months prior to his disappearance and multiple texts from Mark Redwine went unanswered. Dylan also had told his brother he intended to confront their father about the compromising photos.
Additionally, the agent testified that Dylan logged onto Facebook multiple times each day and texted his friends on both his phone and iPod, but all activity ceased at 10 p.m. on November 18. Dylan’s phone has never been found.

Prosecution Rests, First Defense Witnesses Testify
Following close to three weeks of testimony, the state rested its case in the trial of Mark Redwine, who is accused of second-degree murder.
One of the final witnesses testifying for the prosecution was FBI Agent John Grusing, who questioned Mark Redwine and asked that he write a “free narrative” of what happened during the time leading up to his son’s disappearance. Redwine told law enforcement officers Dylan might have gone fishing, but told Grusing the boy may have run away, which the agent said made no sense. “I was not taking a confrontational role with Mr. Redwine,” Gruising explained, “but I did not understand why Dylan would go from Colorado Springs to Vallecito, and then if he had problems with Elaine, run away from Elaine while he’s at Mr. Redwine’s residence.” Redwine also told Grusing about the sordid photos Dylan and Cory Redwine found on his computer.
When Gruising mentioned police were searching his cabin for blood, saliva and hair, Redwine volunteered that Dylan had a cold sore on his life that was “oozing blood.” However, when the agent told him he would confirm the cold sore with Dylan’s mother, Redwine changed his story and claimed Dylan had been hit in the face while they were tossing a Nerf football. “Both stories, the defendant was changing what had happened to Dylan to meet what he thought would be evidence,” Gruising told the jury. The FBI agent could not remember if he or Redwine brought up the possibility that Dylan had been attacked by a wild animal, but recalled that Redwine suddenly became “animated.”
Grusing testified that he quickly became skeptical of Redwine’s stories. When he explained to Redwine that he needed to cooperate because “the truth would come out somehow,” Redwine leaned forward, his shoulders slumped and head down, and eventually said, “I’ve got to think about myself.
Lieutenant Jim Ezell of the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office presented aerial drone footage of Mark Redwine’s home and the sites were remains were initially located and where the boy’s cranium was discovered as he recounted the search efforts. When questioned by the defense regarding Mark Redwine’s attempt to organize his own search with a different search dog and handler, Ezell’s claimed the canine unit was “not reliable.”
When court reconvened at 8 o’clock this morning (July 9), Judge Jeffrey Wilson explained to the defendant that he had the right to testify, but was not required to do so, even though his name is not included on Defendant’s Witness List.
The first defense witness was Dr. Bruce Anderson, an expert in forensic anthropology. Anderson examined several of Dylan’s bones in 2019 and declared, “There are scratches and punctures and what I would call the signature of canid coyote or dog degradation.” He added what was left of the skull also was damaged by animals, but admitted it is difficult to determine when or how long after death the animals damaged the bones. “There’s no reason to think that fracture has to be related to what caused that death. It could be, but there’s no face to tell us,” Anderson testified.
The next witness was Jerry Apker, who worked for Colorado Parks and Wildlife for 38 years. When asked, “Is it normal for a coyote to carry a bone a long distance?” he replied, “No but is it possible. It certainly is possible.” Apker added that he had not visited the location where Dylan’s remains were recovered, nonetheless, based on his extensive knowledge of animal behavior, he wouldn’t expect a coyote to carry a human skull in the terrain where the boy’s skull was found.

Mark Redwine’s Former Girlfriend Says Dylan Bled on Living Room Floor in 2011
In an effort to explain the presence of Dylan Redwine’s blood in his father’s living room, the defense called Karen Alexander, who was dating Mark Redwine in 2011. The woman testified the boy cut his finger while visiting his father around Labor Day in 2011. According to the witness, a little blood dripped onto the floor before the bleeding was stopped with a paper towel and Band-Aid.
When asked why she hadn’t mentioned the bleeding when interviewed by the FBI in 2012 and again in 2013, during which that particular weekend was discussed, Alexander said, “I’m sorry, but it happened. ... This was the first time anybody had asked.”
Prosecutors contend Redwine killed his son in a fit of rage after Dylan confronted him over compromising photos depicting Redwine wearing women’s clothing and a diaper and eating feces.

Defense Rests, Mark Redwine Declines to Testify
Just before noon today (July 14) the defense in the trial of Mark Redwine rested and Judge Jeffrey Wilson asked the Defendant if he had made a decision as to whether he was going to testify. Following a short conference with his attorneys, Redwine replied, “I have decided not to testify.”
Defense attorneys attempted to rebut the prosecution’s contention that Mark Redwine killed his son during a confrontation over a series of disgusting photos and that instead, Dylan was either picked up by the wrong person while hitchhiking, or was killed by a wild animal.
One of the experts called to the stand was Dr. Bruce Anderson, who testified it wasn’t clear when Dylan’s skull fracture happened and there was a possibility it occurred two to three weeks after death. It was also unclear, he said, if the fracture played a role in the boy’s death.
Richard Eikelenboom, a forensic expert, testified that the evidence in Mark Redwine’s living room did not indicate a violent incident had occurred in that area. However, on cross-examination, he agreed blunt force injuries that result in death might actually bleed very little or not at all. “There is very little blood. There can be all kinds of violence and some of the violence you don’t have very much blood,” Eikelenboom said.
Of note, Upper Pine River Deputy Fire Chief Roy Vreeland testified earlier during the trial that he visited Mark Redwine’s home on the night of November 19 – the day Dylan was reported missing – and Redwine turned off his lights at approximately 11 p.m. “Most people tend to turn every light on and make their house a beacon so that a missing person could find their way home whether it’s a spouse or a child,” Vreeland said. “... it was odd. Very odd.”

Jury Finds Mark Redwine Guilty!
After deliberating for 6½ hours, this afternoon (July 16), the jury in the Mark Redwine case, pronounced the Defendant guilty of second-degree murder and two counts of child abuse. It has been almost nine years since 13-year-old Dylan Redwine was reported missing from his father’s cabin on November 19, 2012.
The judge set the sentencing hearing for October 8 and Redwine is facing up to 48 years in prison. He will be 60-years-old on August 24, which means he will likely die behind bars.
