Did people in England celebrate Halloween back when the Bronte sisters were writing their books? The big fall celebration in England was (and is) Guy Fawkes Night (or Bonfire Night) held on November 5. It has only been in the past few decades that the American celebration of Halloween has made its way to the UK. There were October 31st celebrations in Scotland, and Queen Victoria is said to have held Halloween Celebrations at Balmoral Castle.
