Man Looking Forward to Rapture Accidentally CrematedHarold D. Lee of Pauline, South Carolina, was found dead on Thanksgiving Day of 2019. He had expressed a desire to be buried next to his parents at Holland Cemetery in Quitman, Arkansas, and his remains were transferred to Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Little Rock. Lee was deeply religious, believed in the Rapture following the second coming of Christ and let it be known that he wished to be buried intact.
Unfortunately, there was a mix-up at the funeral home and Lee was accidentally cremated. According to the complaint filed by the family, Eunice Lee, the deceased’s wife, was “violently shaking in shock” when she learned of the horrendous mistake. Because family members are convinced their loved one’s cremated remains cannot be “raputred following the second coming,” they are alleging “extreme mental and emotional distress” and seeking monetary compensation for their pain and suffering.
Although the funeral home profoundly apologized, did not charge for the cremation and returned the $5,000 paid in burial insurance, the family feels this is insufficient.
Mitchell Harrison, the attorney for Roller-McNutt admits Lee was accidentally cremated but indicated any other questions should be directed to his client’s the corporate office.Sources: Chris Carter, KNOE, March 22, 2022; and John O’Brien, LegalNewsOnline, March 21, 2022.

What about people who have been dead for hundreds of years and their bodies have already completely deteriorated? Does that mean they won't rise and ascend to heaven?

I was in a Christian family, but I did not know that Christians believed that cremated people cannot rise with Christ in the second coming. I'm wondering if that isn't just that family's belief. Doesn't make any sense to me. Maybe they suddenly believe that so that they can have cause for a hefty lawsuit.

Catholics believe in the resurrection of the body after death and it wasn't until 1963 that the Vatican lifted the ban on cremation. Many Christians believe that because the body of Christ was laid to rest in a tomb until his resurrection, the human body should either be buried or entombed until it, too, is resurrected.

I have a Baptist neighbor whose son died and although he had left instructions that his body be cremated, she had him buried instead because she said cremation was pagan.

Thanks! I was born after that date, and not Catholic, so that's probably why I had never heard of that.

Judy (that was her name) did a lot of horrible things and people said she wasn't right in the head. In the thread about three-dimensional ghosts, she saw the woman and boy from her balcony and said that if they weren't real, then they were demons. No one else agreed with her. We all thought they were the spirits of the woman and boy who had been killed on their way home back in the 1960s. whatliesbeyond.boards.net/thread/7019/dimensional-ghosts
