'Amityville Horror' Killer Dead at 69 Ronald “Butch” DeFeo Jr., who shot and killed his parents and siblings in the infamous “Amityville Horror” case. died Friday, March 12. Born September 26, 1951, he was 69-years-old.
He was confined at the Sullivan Correctional Facility in Fallsburg, New York, but was transferred to Albany Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 6:35 p.m. The official cause of death has not been determined.
His victims included Ronald DeFeo Sr. (43) and Louise Brigante DeFeo (43), his parents; and Dawn (18), Allison (13), Marc (12) and John Matthew (9), his brothers and sisters.
Although DeFeo and his lawyer attempted a “demons made me do it” defense, he was convicted of six counts of second degree murder and sentenced to 25 years to life on each count, to be served consecutively, which amounted to 150 years and calculated to a life sentence.
