Sisters Found Dead In East Liberty HomePITTSBURGH – Police continue to investigate the double murder of two sisters in Pittsburgh’s East Liberty neighborhood.
The women’s bodies were found around 12:45 p.m. Friday in a home in the 700-block of Chislett Street.
The victims have been identified by neighbors as Dr. Sarah Wolfe – who worked at UPMC as a psychiatrist – and her sister, Susan Wolfe, a teacher’s aide at a Squirrel Hill day care center.
Lt. Daniel Herrmann, of the Pittsburgh Police, said the women were found in the basement of their home.
KDKA’s Harold Hayes: “There was a call to check on their welfare because they didn’t show up for work or didn’t show up somewhere?”
Lt. Herrmann: “One of the women didn’t show up for work this morning. There was a call to police to check on their well being. Police came here and met a friend of theirs who let them in the home and once inside they discovered the two women.”
Lt. Herrmann said there was no sign of forced entry and nothing appeared to be out of place in the home.
Police were on the lookout for a 2011, green Ford Fiesta, which was owned by Dr. Wolfe.
It was reported missing.
UPMC released a statement saying, in part, that Dr. Wolfe was a “compassionate, warm, caring and bright physician.”Source: Ralph Iannotti, KDKA News, February 7, 2014.

Since the car's missing, it sounds like it might have been a robbery, but it's strange that there was no sign of a break-in.

Yes and nothing looks out of place. No signs of a struggle even. Since there is no forced entry or struggle/missing items, it sounds like they let someone in and that person had other plans for them. Then once the crime was committed, that person took off with the car. Perhaps it was one of the doctor's patients, or one of the teacher's students?
