We Welcome Guest WritersIf you’re interested in true crime, the paranormal, UFOs, unsolved mysteries, witchcraft or just about anything in the strange category, we would love to post your well-written, carefully-researched non-fiction articles. To submit a story for posting, please send a personal message to Graveyardbride or me with a synopsis of your idea or, if your write-up is complete with sources, you may send the entire article.
Please note:
(1) Grammar and composition are of the utmost important – we have a few nitpicky members – so you should read some of the posts in the category in which you are interested to get an idea of what we expect. (2) All sources are acceptable with the exception of Wikipedia, which is notoriously unreliable.
(3) We prefer third-person accounts.
(4) No politics or pornography.
If you have any comments or suggestions, please use the reply option.
Please Note: While comments and suggestions are welcome, arguing will not be tolerated here, or elsewhere in this forum.

I have no problem with guest writers as long as they can write. The problem is that today, everybody and his brother thinks they can write. Take a look at sites like Mysterious Universe and Anomalien that specialize in posting poorly written fiction they attempt to pass off as "true" if you don't believe me.

I've come across Mysterious Universe and Anomalien when I've been searching for something and the writing is so awful that it's very hard to read more than a paragraph or two. You're also right about a lot of it being fiction they're trying to pass off as factual, a good example being the recent article by Nick Redfern about the "black-eyed children." For some reason, the people who write for Mysterious Universe never learned basic composition: Some of their sentences are so long you lose your train of thought before the end of it and so do they.

This notice has been here since before I joined the group, but I never see any guest writers. Is that because no one submits any articles, or because Graveyardbride and Joanna reject them?

This notice has been here since before I joined the group, but I never see any guest writers. Is that because no one submits any articles, or because Graveyardbride and Joanna reject them? We’ve had a few, however, we do not accept submissions containing gross grammatical and syntax errors, e.g., those in which the writer doesn’t know the difference between lying and laying, etc. One person submitted a true crime write-up in which she mentioned the body was found laying on the bedroom floor in the very first paragraph. Another article was written by someone who didn’t know the difference between accept and except.
We also had a submission about EVP and other ghost-hunting techniques, even though anyone reading the “ghost hunting” section should have realized we take a dim view of such nonsense.

I'm no writer but even I know the difference between lying and laying and accept and except, which I think I learned in junior high school.
