One of the best things about the new site is no ads! On Yahoo, it was to the point that you couldn't even get to the message board for the ads and in the last few weeks, I even had pop up ads on Yahoo even though I don't have them anywhere else. And that awful picture of Russia that Yahoo put on our homepage. Ugh! I never could figure out why Yahoo picked a scene from Russia for a group about unsolved mysteries.

I agree and most of the ads were for things that I either hated or would never even think about buying. It was all a bunch of junk, just like almost everything on the Yahoo news page. I'm thrilled that I don't have to look at that junk everyday anymore.

All this time, I thought a moderator had chosen that picture of Russia, although I always wondered why.

Natalie, Yahell just picked banners at random and stuck them at the top of people's forums whether they had anything to do with the group or not. I was in another group where we discussed murder and criminal investigation and Yahell plastered a banner of freaking flowers across the top! It was things like this that convinced owners to either move their groups or delete them. At least the owners of this group chose to create another forum. The owner of my other favorite group deleted the group and it's gone forever. I believe that it was possible for group owners to change the banners, but I guess Joanna figured that it wasn't worth it after the decision was made to move the list. I also hated those freaking Yahell ads. At least here, for a fee, we can be ad-free and it's worth it, whatever the cost!

I agree that it is frustrating. It's a shame your other group decided to close down, though. Perhaps you can invite some of the members to come to this forum and join in our discussions?
