Has anyone been watching "The Staircase" on Netflix. I've watched parts of it and I'm not impressed.

That son-of-a-bitch Michael Peterson was guilty and everybody knew it. He was a parasite living off his wife and they were having serious money problems. When she found out about his male whores, she confronted him and he ended up killing her.

Best up close portrait of a "closet" homicidal guy I've ever seen.
Lots of killers are obvious to everyone. They're not ashamed. They put teardrops on their face.
Michael Peterson has crocodile tears. Everyone should watch it just to see what an establishment homicidal guy looks like. The X Factor is written all over him.
But it is highly embarrassing in every way. A total indictment of everything we already knew was indictable. The lawyers still think people will go for the "if the glove doesn't fit" spiel. Or the "reasonable doubt" because the state can't prove exactly how it happened.
Tax payers money goes into this.... At least common sense prevailed with the jury....
I watched my daughter come down the stairs fall from the third or fourth step spin and land on concrete with the back of her head.
Of course she didn't hit the sharp edge of a door frame and then hit the sharp edge of the bottom step. That would take gymnastics and bad luck.

The "owl theory" makes about as much sense as the Twinkie Defense. Owls attack only if they're nesting or out of fear, that is, if someone corners or bothers them. In North Carolina, owls don't nest in December, and I'm sure Kathleen Peterson, who grew up in North Carolina, knew better than to corner or bother an owl.

Nothing that Michael Peterson did or said the night that his wife died made any sense. He said that he walked in the house and found Kathleen dead at the bottom of the stairs and there was blood all over the floor and walls. So, he picks up the phone and tells 911 that he thinks that his wife fell down the stairs. If you walk in and find blood all over the place, you don't think that someone fell, you think that someone came in and murdered them and you get the hell out of there as fast as you can because the killer might still be in the house.

They had the same black cat poster at both murder scenes. Oh yeah accident scenes. Innocent until proven. As Harrison Ford said in Presumed Innocent. "Yeah. Right!"

David Rudolph is lawyer, Thomas Hagan (Robert Duvall).

I haven't watched "The Staircase". I assume that the show is about his wife's murder. How did it come up that he was talking about tableware?

He's in the kitchen/dining room with his daughters and he's telling them which dish from the cupboard they can take with them and then he's looking to see if the crystal came from Germany. By looking at the base.

By looking at the base. Normal men don't care where the crystal is from. Some of the men that I know at the VFW and American Legion read some of his books and they say that they aren't any good.

I JUST started watching this last night. The guy definitely seems a little off, as do his kids. Those injuries she had do not make sense to me to be from a fall on the stairs, but I am trying to keep an open mind.

So he killed the woman in Germany because he wanted her children?

So he killed the woman in Germany because he wanted her children? He did it for the money. The girls received a payout when their father, who was killed on active duty and their mother was keeping it for their education. After Peterson killed their mother, the children received a payout from her life insurance. Additionally, they received monthly Social Security survivor benefits from both their father and mother (who was a GS-10) as well as VA survivor benefits from their father. Peterson didn't have to spend a dime on those girls; they received enough to support them with money left over.
