Year's Last Blue Moon is Pink: March 31, 2018The last Blue Moon of 2018 is just around the corner and it’s Pink. What is normally April’s Moon occurs in March this year and because it’s the second Full Moon in the month, it’s a Blue Moon. If you miss this Blue Moon, you’ll have to wait until Halloween of 2020 for the next one.
The Pink Moon is named for the pink phlox flowers that bloom in the United States in early spring.
The Moon reaches its full stage at 8:37 a.m. (EST), March 31, but because it will be daylight by then, the best time for viewing the Pink Moon is tonight (March 30) or tomorrow night. Moonrise times this evening are as follows:
Lubec, Maine: 6 p.m. Daytona Beach, Florida: 7:03 p.m. Little Rock, Arkansas: 6:49 p.m. Casper, Wyoming: 6:45 p.m. Pasadena, California: 6:37 p.m. Sources: Mike Wall, Space.com, March 29, 2018, and The Old Farmer’s Almanac.
