Return of The X-Files: January 3, 2018Chris Carter, the show-runner for The X-Files recently revealed to TVLine that he believes “all the creative kinks have been worked out ahead of the series’ 10-episode comeback in early 2018.” In our previous article on David Duchovny, he agreed, saying: “Season 10 was exposition heavy about how to get you up to speed.”
After a 12-year hiatus from the small screen, Carter continues, “There was some reacquainting that had to be achieved.” Fan chatter indicated the episodes dealing with the mythology of the show were the weakest part of the revival.
This time around, Carter and his writing staff decided to go with less lore and have more standalone episodes such as the popular “Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster.” Quite a bit of buzz is surrounding the upcoming season’s Assistant Director Skinner’s backstory featuring Haley Joel Osment.
Of course, the huge development that will take place in Season 11 is meeting Mulder and Scully’s son, William. The search for him drives the show this year. Carter is confident that the new season will “hit the ground running. I think that we’re all in fighting shape now.”
The Evolving Relationship of ‘Sculder.’ Shippers everywhere can also rest assured per Carter that because a huge part of the storyline is William, this will draw Mulder and Scully closer.
