Texas Haunted House with Nine Ghosts for Sale
For just $125,000, a lucky someone can own a haunted house situated on a huge 1.4-acre lot in Mineral Wells, Texas, some 60 miles west of Fort Worth. An estimated nine ghosts are included in the purchase price.
The charming three-bedroom, two-bath Queen Anne home at 501 N.E. 1st Street, was built in 1890 by Fanny Yeager Kyle, who lived in the house until her death in 1924. After the original owner’s death, the lovely Victorian was turned into a brothel and according to local lore, one of the prostitutes gave birth to a handicapped child named Joshua, who also died in the dwelling and his spirit still makes its presence known. Another phantom is apparently that of a man who fell into a well behind the house.
Locally known as the “Haunted Hill House,” the old home has been the subject of numerous videos and newspaper/internet articles and some say it’s one of the most haunted places in Texas. Becky Foley, who is handling the listing for Source 1, claims she doesn’t believe in ghosts, but admits she sometimes experiences an eerie feeling while showing the place. “There are spots with strange vibes,” she says, quickly explaining, “It’s really just an old house that needs a little TLC.”
It’s that TLC that discourages many home buyers; parts of the house will require major renovations. Another obstacle for most prospective buyers is the high asking price: the property is valued at only $26,000, but because of its haunted reputation, the price is approximately five times its actual worth. The seller reasons that the new owners will be able to recoup their expenditures by opening their new residence to ghost tours and ghost-hunters. Also, the nearby Baker Motel is scheduled for renovations which could bring tourists to Mineral Wells, making the house a good investment. “Alleged ghost venues and the paranormal does bring in mega-bucks,” Foley adds.
Currently, Haunted Hill House is still open to ghost hunters starting at $200 for a Friday overnight stay. Reservations must be made in advance and the owner doesn’t allow Ouija boards or cleansing ceremonies lest they rid the property of its primary assets.
