In our old groups and at the beginning of this one, we featured a "Mystery Location" each week. In the past, a photo of the location was posted, clues were posted and people attempted to name the location. However, because it is now relatively simple to locate many photos on the internet by using Google Image Identifier and other programs and some people were cheating, we discontinued the Mystery Locations.
The new Mystery Locations will not include a photo. Instead clues will be provided and participants will be required to locate and post (or provide a link to) a photo of the location and name the location, including the city, state (or country) and street address. (Not all locations will be the Untied States.)
Each Sunday, I will provide a brief summary of the location. Each succeeding day, a clue will be posted and another clue each day thereafter until someone either names the location or the contest ends the following Sunday at 12 a.m.
Someone has suggested that instead of the 3 points awarded for naming a location in the past, that points depend on when the location is named. For example: If the location is named on Sunday, the winner will receive 7 points. If it is named on Monday, the winner gets 6 points; on Tuesday, 5 points; and if it isn't named until Saturday, the winner will receive 1 point. I think this is a good idea, but if anyone disagrees with this method, please indicate your objections, or alternative suggestions, in a reply hereto, or contact me personally by clicking on my ID “Graveyardbride" (at left) and utilizing the "Send Message" option.
In the past, some disgruntled losers didn’t like it when I did not accept their incorrect answers. Accordingly, we need volunteers who will be advised of the correct answer at the beginning of each contest. Of course, this person will not be able to participate in the contest during the week he/she volunteers.
Additional information, including our prize list, will be posted within the next day or two.
