Perhaps he didn't want to ruin Christmas for their families and friends.
Are you joking, or do you really think that?

Did Ted Bundy ever abduct and kill any women on Halloween? That would be the perfect time for a serial killer to pick up a woman, knock her unconscious and take her to wherever he took his victims. If someone saw him with the body of an unconscious woman thrown over his shoulder, he could say that he was on his way to a Halloween party.

I always feel so very sad about the women he tortured. I can not imagine how horrible their fear must have been! Also, their families would never be the same while on this earth. For every life he took, he wrecked the lives of so many folks. I dare say, he deserved death and so much more.

Though he didn't torture women and girls like a sadist would, he knocked them unconscious and when they came to, they had to have been terrified. Still, I agree that he deserved the death penalty. He was also an escape artist who had already escaped twice and tried to escape from Florida State Prison.
If I were the victim of a serial killer, I would hope that the killer was someone like Bundy, who would either bludgeon me or strangle me, which would be horrible, but better than being the victim of a sadistic sicko who hangs women up and tortures them for days just to hear them scream. I can't think of anything worse than that.

I just realized that Ted Bundy was executed 29 years ago today.

Speaking of Ted, there is going to be a new Ted Bundy movie. Zac Efron is going to play the part of Ted. Is anyone planning to watch it? I might, but I will need to read up on it some more to see where they're going with it, exactly. Someone in an online forum mentioned that this movie will be different from others, because it is told from the perspective of an ex-girlfriend of his, rather than from his own perspective, so we may learn some new things about him. I just don't know whether any of it will be true, a lot of these biographical movies tend to exaggerate, add characters and incidents that did not exist, just for dramatic effect. This is especially true when the subject is dead and cannot speak up regarding accuracy, so in the end, I wonder what would actually be true.

There was something about the movie posted in the Movies & TV section months ago. They'll probably have some beautiful actress playing the part of his girlfriend and I've heard that she was very plain. The one with Mark Harmon was a good movie.

Thanks Steve, I saw someone else mention in a forum that it was a good movie as well. I'll check that one out.

I suppose it would depend on what "torture" means to each Individual person. I recently read a book about one female who got away from Bundy. Before throttling her, he told her she would surely die. This was even before his destination. He would then strangle her just enough to enjoy the thought and she KNEW death was near when consciousness arrived. Although, this has been about a year ago, I believe this occurred more than once. And so it continued...after his torture, his total control of her was death by his own hands..

I read I Survived Ted Bundy by Rhonda Stapley, but I don't believe he was the man who tried to rape her, if anyone did. Her account just didn't ring true. From what I've heard and read, he usually knocked women unconscious immediately or shortly after he abducted them.

From what I've heard and read, he usually knocked women unconscious immediately or shortly after he abducted them. I didn't believe Rhonda Stapley either. What she wrote was just too fantastic. She said that he picked her up between classes and took her to a place where there were picnic tables, which means it was a public place, where anyone could have showed up at any time. He wasn't stupid. He had killed other women and knew better than to take a woman to a public place and rape and kill her. She also said that the door handle was missing and so she couldn't get out of the car, but when he abducted Carol DaRonch the following month, she managed to get out of the car using the door handle. Also, Stapley wouldn't take a polygraph test. If she was telling the truth, why wouldn't she take it?

I met a woman who recently moved to Florida to be closer to relatives who have lived here for years. She went to Viewmont High School and was one year behind Debra Kent. She said that after the disappearance, girls were scared to death. She lived a few blocks from the school, but she never walked to or from school alone after that. One day she got sick at school and was sent home and the principal had one of the boys walk with her.
I asked her about the stories that after Ted Bundy was executed that people started seeing his tan Volkswagen in the school parking lot. She said she had heard the stories and thinks it's just an urban legend because it's always someone other than the person telling the story who saw the car. After I asked the question, I was a little embarrassed because I thought she's probably Mormon and I'm not sure how they feel about the supernatural, though she didn't seem at all bothered that I asked.

It was 45 years ago that Ted Bundy make the biggest mistakes of his career as a serial killer. If he hadn't abducted Debra Kent after he tried to kidnap Carol DaRonch, there's no telling how long he would have gone on killing before getting caught.
