Devil Worship Suspected in Murder of Houston Teen
HOUSTON, Tex. – Search crews discovered the body of 16-year-old Ryan Roberts (inset above) Monday. The teen had gone missing Friday, January 15. His mother says he texted her saying he was going to be late from school because of a substitute bus driver, but never returned home. "That was the last I heard of him," said Roberts. She filed a missing person reports with Houston and HISD police but investigators were unable to find Ryan. Then, his mother said a neighbor came forward with information that would lead to the body. "He confessed to his cousin, in detail," said Roberts. Included in the information provided by the anonymous neighbor was a possible location. She called EquuSearch Monday night and search crews located the body near the railroad tracks (above) in northeast Houston within 30 minutes after their search began near Holmes Road and the South Loop Tuesday morning.
"We've been doing this a long time, and it doesn't get any easier," said Tim Miller of EquuSearch. "I called the mother and talked to her after we got him located and I can only imagine how distraught she is at this time."
Mrs. Roberts believes her son’s death may be linked to devil worship. "My child helped everybody, anybody and everybody he helped. He had a loving heart," she said.
Ryan attended Jefferson Davis High School and according to his mother, wanted to be a chef.
Mrs. Roberts claimed she knew who killed her son in a "satanic act," a boy who had a "dark side" to his personality. "He worships the devil," she insisted. "He'll tell you that himself. He worships the devil," she said. "We fed him, he slept here, he basically lived here most of the time."
The mother of the friend in question said, "I didn't raise him like that, as a child he was born and raised in the church home.” She revealed her son started drawing "devil pictures," killed family pets and started worshiping Satan. "He doesn't believe in God, he believes in the devil," she added.
The alleged killer’s mother said she signed her son into the psychiatric ward at Ben Taub and confirmed detectives came by her home Tuesday, but she wasn't there. She expects her son to be arrested for Ryan's murder at any time. "He did the crime, he needs to do the time," she reasoned.
"You feel completely convinced that your son killed this woman's son?" Chauncy Glover asked.
"Yes I am, my heart goes out to her," she replied.
No suspects have officially been named at this point.
