Fox Developing Show Based on The Demon of Brownsville Road
Fox is tapping into the popular horror genre with a script order for Haunted, a hour-long drama from horror film writer/director Brent Bell, Variety has learned. Bell – who wrote and directed the 2012 flick The Devil Inside – will serve as writer on the project, and is attached to direct should a formal pilot order land. Chris Morgan and Ainsley Davies will also exec produce, and Lisa Arianna will serve as a producer.
Inspired by Bob Cramner's book, The Demon of Brownsville Road, which is based on the author’s self-proclaimed true story, Haunted is about a military agent who is partnered with her ex-boyfriend, now a rogue demonologist, to help a family overcome a deadly demonic infestation of their home (pictured above). Per Fox's logline, the season-long case investigates the true story of one of the most haunted houses in America. At its core, the potential series will explore the age-old question: is evil real?
Haunted, from 20th Century Fox, marks Bell’s first major broadcast TV project, though he did sell his pilot Posthuman to USA Network through Blumhouse and Universal Cable Prods. Haunted a continuation into the horror genre for Bell who has extensive experience in the space from The Devil Inside to the 2006 movie Stay Alive to Wer, a horror action drama that was released in 2013. Up next, Bell has directed supernatural thriller The Boy from Lakeshore and Vertigo, which is set to be released early next year.
Bell, Morgan and Arianna are all represented by ICM. Bell is also repped by attorney Peter Sample at Jackoway Tyerman, and Morgan by attorney Jeff Frankel. Crammer, who authored the Brownsville novel, is repped by Gersh.
