Report Claims Oregon Shooter Obsessed with Satan
No one knew why Chris Harper-Mercer decided to open fire on many of the students attending Umpqua Community College on October 1. However, according to a new report, it may have had something to do with his obsession with Satan. Chris Harper-Mercer, 26, changed the lives of many when he opened fired on students at Umpqua Community College shooting and reportedly left nine people dead. While his motive was unknown when the horrific incident occurred, a new report claims to have found a manifesto allegedly written by Chris, revealing the role Satan may have played in the massacre.
While it has already been revealed that Chris had a strong dislike for organized religion, it turns out he may have also been obsessed with Satan and documented his devotion to darkness in a manifesto that was allegedly recovered from his computer, People reports. While the outlet has not yet received a copy of this document or confirmed its existence, a source close to the investigation claimed that in the manifesto, which allegedly had “666” scrawled across it, Mercer wrote in detail about his desire to “serve darkness.” According to the source, “The guy did this strictly for satanic purposes. He did it to become a god in hell. He wants to be evil. That is his goal, to serve Satan.”
Eyewitness accounts of the shooting later revealed that prior to opening fire in Synder Hall, Chris reportedly went around to every student in the room and asked that they stand and state their religion before he pulled the trigger. “The only thing I’ve seen that came close to this type of devotion to Satan is the ‘Night Stalker’ in Los Angeles,” the source added, referring to Richard Ramirez, a serial killer who murdered at least 13 people over the course of two years in the 1980s.
Students attending Umpqua Community College on October 1 had their world turned upside down when Mercer decided to open fire on those around him. “At about 10:38 a.m. today, the 911 center received a report of a shooting at Umpqua Community College,” Mary Ann Johnston, Records Clerk for the Douglas County Sheriffs Office, told HollywoodLife.com. “Police units from multiple jurisdictions have responded. We have no further details at this time. There are no threats at this time.”
Once local authorities arrived on the scene, they immediately tended the victims of the shooting. “We arrived to find multiple patients in multiple classrooms. Law enforcement was on scene and had the shooter neutralized,” Douglas County Fire Marshal Ray Shoufler said. Authorities confirmed that Mercer had been killed. The victims were then transported to Mercy Medical Center.
“As of 11:40 a.m., we are treating six patients from the (Umpqua college) shooting and we have four more on the way,” a representative from Mercy Medical Center told HollywoodLife. “At this time I cannot share any other information on the patients. We are updating our Facebook page as new information becomes available.”
