UFO, Bigfoot, Paranormal Expo
CONNELLSVILLE, Penn. – Those interested in the unexplained and paranormal will gather at the First Annual Fayette County, PA UFO, Bigfoot and Paranormal Expo. Project Talent Theatre Workshops will host the event Saturday, October 17, 2015, from10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Edwin S. Porter Theater in the Greater Connellsville Community Center, 201 E. Fairview Ave. in Connellsville.
The event will feature internationally known UFO expert Stan Gordon as the keynote speaker. “I met Stan Gordon after I had asked him to speak at the library in 2014. We had talked about doing the expo then, but things came up and we weren't able to follow through with the plan. We got together earlier this year and decided to have it,” co-organizer Shirley Rosenberger said. Gordon advised her and co-organizer Ann Nicholson on speakers for the first-time event. He said this new local event will be of interest to not only residents in Fayette County, but to many people in surrounding locations as well. According to Gordon: “There is a huge public interest in UFOs, Bigfoot and the paranormal in general. Fayette County historically is one of the most active locations in the country for UFO and Bigfoot reports. Some of the strangest incidents on record I documented at various locations in Fayette County. This event will inform the public of some of the historical cases that have taken place in their area and update them on more recent strange encounters as well.”
Nicholson indicated response to the event has been positive and is attracting tourists to the city. “We have some local people and businesses that have expressed interest; however, surprisingly enough, most of the response has been outside of the area, in particular, Maryland,” she related.
Gordon said it has been busy the last few weeks with a surge of UFO reports coming in from various areas. His new book, Astonishing Encounters: Pennsylvania's Unknown Creatures, published in August, tells of several cases from around the Fayette County area. At the event, he will be talking about some of the history of UFO and Bigfoot encounters that have taken place in Fayette County and surrounding areas.
“This December will mark the 50th anniversary of the Keckburg UFO incident, so I will discuss that case along with many other UFO, Bigfoot and strange creature reports,” Gordon said. “I will also talk about the famous 1973 UFO landing case outside of Uniontown where two Bigfoot-like creatures were observed at the same time. An update will also be given on some of the more recent cases I am investigating.”
Other speakers at the event include John Ventre, director of Pennsylvania Mutual Unidentified Flying Object Network (MUFON). “He will be talking about UFO sightings in Pennsylvania as well as presenting information on UFOs in general,” Rosenberger said. Fred Saluga will be talking about UFOs as well as Bigfoot. “He recently gave a presentation at the Carnegie Free Library and was featured in an article in the Daily Courier,” she added.. Diane and Jim Trick from Goosebumps Paranormal will also speak. The final presenter is Dave Dragosin of the Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society. He will discuss Bigfoot and sightings in Pennsylvania.
“All lecturers will also be allowed a brief period of time after their discussion for a question and answer session,” Rosenberger said.
In addition to the speakers, many vendors will be present and a couple documentaries will be shown. According to Nicholson, “The first will be Kecksburg: The Untold Story, an award-winning video by Stan Gordon. The other video is by Ryan Cavalline entitled Mountain Devil. The movie is about Bigfoot and a frightening night spent at a secluded mountain cabin. “There will also be an evening concert by Walter Shrum. He writes music about Bigfoot hunters,” she added.
