This girl had some serious identity issues. I don't know the proper word for it, but for some reason she seemed to have socialized with blacks only and the video from the convenience store shows that she tried to dress and act black. Even her best friend who testified at trial, a girl named Kesha Myers, was black. Do blacks outnumber whites so much in Panola County that she couldn't find anyone of her own kind to hang out with?

The number of whites and blacks in Panola County is about equal. Jessica Chambers was a skank and decent people don't associate with skanks. Do you really think you have to tell people that a woman named "Kesha" is black? Duh!

I just don't understand how they can find someone who doused someone else with gasoline, as being not guilty.

From what I've heard, he said he didn't do it and I guess that some of the jury believed him.

So what's the reason that he wasn't convicted? Is it because all the black jurors voted Not Guilty like they did in the OJ case?

Second Trial in Jessica Chambers Case Set for September
BATESVILLE, Miss. – Quinton Tellis will go to trial again September 24 for the burning death of Jessica chambers, though the location of the has not been determined. District Attorney John Champion, who is leading the prosecution, said Judge Gerald Chatham has yet to issue an order setting the venue.
Tellis, whose first trial in Batesville last October ended in a mistrial, is currently serving a sentence on unrelated charges predating the Chambers case. He is incarcerated at the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman serving five-years for burglary/larceny of an unoccupied dwelling, according to Mississippi Department of Corrections records.
“Originally it was June,” Champion said of the new trial date, “but the defense lawyer had a conflict – he had another trial – so we had to move it to September.” Alton Peterson and Darla Palmer represent Tellis.
Tellis is charged with capital murder for the December 2014 burning death of the north Mississippi teenager. The case captivated the community and drew national attention as well because of the grisly nature of the crime.
Dramatic and often emotional testimony during the first trial revealed that Tellis and Chambers, 19, had been together in nearby Batesville hours before the girl stumbled ablaze from her burning vehicle on a road near her home in the tiny Panola County community of Courtland.
Prosecutors theorized something happened between Tellis and Chambers after they returned from Batesville to Courtland. Defense attorneys, however, hammered on the fact that Chambers, unable to speak clearly because of burns to her throat, seemed to tell first responders someone named “Eric” set her on fire.
Jurors then deadlocked over a misunderstanding concerning jury instructions. They thought because they couldn’t agree unanimously that Tellis was guilty, they had to declare him not guilty. The judge instructed them to continue deliberating after clarifying that the vote had to be unanimous either way, but jurors still could not reach a decision.
Both sides have said their cases will be essentially the same at the second trial.
Tellis also faces a murder charge in Louisiana, which is awaiting resolution of the Chambers case before proceeding.

What's the point in trying him again if the prosecution's case is going to be the same as it was before? Why don't they just send him on to Louisiana? Maybe the prosecutor there will ask for the death penalty. He should have been taken out and lynched two years ago when he was first charged.

Defense Attorney Wants DA Thrown off Jessica Chambers Case
PANOLA COUNTY, Miss. – The defense team in an infamous Mid-South murder case wants the prosecutor thrown off the case. Quinton Tellis is accused of killing 19-year-old Jessica Chambers and setting her on fire in December 2014 in Panaloa County.
Tellis’ first trial ended in a hung jury, but DA John Champion is retrying the case. Now, documents filed this week made astonishing allegations against Champion. The accusations in the motion and affidavit filed by defense attorney Darla Palmner, are explosive. She accuses Champion of prosecutorial misconduct and ethical violations.
Palmer claims Champion tried to pressure Jalen Matthews Caudle – charged with capital murder in a different case – into testifying that Jessica Chambers used to refer to Tellis as Eric. The name Eric was key to the defense and prosecution’s case.
Multiple first responders testified last October that Chambers said “Eric” burned her over 90 percent of her body. It was a point driven into the minds of jurors by Tellis’ attorney.
The case ended in a hung jury. The new trial for Tellis is scheduled for the end of September.
Caudle, who met Tellis while incarcerated in the Desoto County Detention Center, said in April 2018 that Champion asked to meet with him at the jail in a private office. He claimed Champion introduced himself and said he was prosecuting his case. According to Caudle, Champion said: “Jalen, you do know if you lose this case, you’re looking at life and I’m the one who determines how long you get. I promise if you help me, I’ll help you.” Caudle alleges Champion offered to drop his case and repeatedly asked if there was anything Caudle wanted to tell him.
Caudle said he didn't know what Champion was talking about, after which Champion asked: “Jalen what about this, Quinton’s nickname was Eric, right?”
Caudle said he didn’t know. Champion allegedly told Caudle to drop Darla Palmer as his attorney and he would get him a public defender who was a friend. He also allegedly cautioned Caudle not to tell anybody about the meeting, but Caudle did tell his father, who told Darla Palmer.
A judge will hear arguments on the motion Monday, which Champion has said will explain everything.

Unless someone comes forward and talks, that ugly thug is going to get away with killing that girl.

Explain if Eric Hill or Eric Lemon was investigated as an accomplice with Tellis? Both Erics are connected to Monroe, LA murder. Murders were 7 or 8 months apart.
Can anyone confirm where were Jackson, Tellis's wife, and Eric Hill on night of Chambers' murder?
Eric Hill is cousin of Tellis' wife who Tellis married to prevent her from testifying about LA murder. Possibly MS murder too?
Is it true Eric Hill dated Tellis' sister?
Pathway back from Chambers' murder scene led to Tellis' sister's house. Activity at sister's house indicated people left and returned to sister's house around time of murder.
Where were Jackson, Eric Hill and Eric Lemon on night of murder?

Obvious motive - cover up of rape. He asked Chambers for sex multiple times that day. She said, No. Tellis said, they had sex that day just in case his semen and DNA are collected. He raped her. Murdered her to silence her.

I'm sure the police, and probably the FBI, have checked out the two Erics because their connections to Tellis were reported in the newspapers a year or two ago. Maybe Lee or Joanna can find some of the articles and post them.
I know people in Panola County and they knew Jessica Chambers, but didn't associate with her. She hung out with thugs and other criminals and respectable people weren't keeping up with what she was doing.

She hung out with thugs and other criminals and respectable people weren't keeping up with what she was doing. When People Magazine did a piece on the murder, the white girl who claimed to be Jessica's best friend in high school was her cousin. She hung out exclusively with blacks and her best friend at trial was some black girl named "Kesha." Another best friend was a black man named Taylor Eggleston. She smoked and sold marijuana. There are reports that she was trying to change, but all you have to do is look at her on that video the night she was murdered to tell she was still a skank hanging out with thugs.

Murdered her to silence her. Why would a skank who never met a black thug she didn't like have refused to have sex with Tellis? Even if she had cried rape, no one would have believed her. No, her murder was over something more than sex. At the time of her killing, some black women who knew Jessica Chambers were calling for the killing and burning of white children on Facebook.

I read some time back that she had just gotten out of drug rehab when she was killed. It must not have worked because she was still dressing like a gangster and hanging out with thugs. She didn't deserve to be burned alive, but it's hard to have a lot of sympathy for someone who brought it on herself.
