Halloween Story/Poem Contest
Rules: Write a short story (fiction or non-fiction) or poem with a Halloween or Samhain theme, submit it and members will vote for the one they like best. If you're not good at fiction or poetry, you could write a true account of ancient Samhain practices, or the way in which Halloween was celebrated in the early 20th century. Or you could write about a true haunting, murder or other mystery (with a Halloween or fall theme). The choice is yours, but your story/poem must be in your own words. (Tip: You can turn almost any true ghost story into a Halloween story simply by setting your account in the fall close to Halloween.) The winner will be allowed to pick a book or DVD from our prize list.
Because some of our members are shy about submitting stories they write themselves, I am asking that everyone email their submissions to me and I will post them (without the name of the author). Only after we have voted and there is a winner will the name of the winning author be revealed.
The deadline for submissions will be midnight, Sunday, October 27. This gives you 10 days to write your story or poem – plenty of time for just a page or two or a few lines of text. Submissions will be posted in the group as they are received so that members can read and enjoy them during the month of October.
Members of our old group who submitted stories and poems last year may resubmit them provided they were not the winner.
Please send entries to me either by private message or emailing me directly at: mainecoast1@yahoo.com
If you have any questions, please ask.
