Snap Dragon!
At the beginning of the Hercule Perot movie Halloween Party, the children play a game called “Snap Dragon.” Essentially a Halloween or Christmas game, it can be played at any kind of a party. You need only a large fire-proof pan, some brandy and a package of raisins or dried cranberries or currants. Place the dried fruit on the plate, pour the brandy over it, allow it to soak for a while and set it alight. As those playing the game snatch their alcohol-logged prizes from the fire, they chant:
Here he comes with flaming bowl, Don’t he mean to take his toll, Snip! Snap! Dragon!
Take care you don’t take too much, Be not greedy in your clutch, Snip! Snap! Dragon!
With his blue and lapping tongue Many of you will be stung, Snip! Snap! Dragon!
For he snaps at all that comes Snatching at his feast of plums, Snip! Snap! Dragon!
Don’t ‘ee fear him but be bold — Out he goes his flames are cold, Snip! Snap! Dragon!
