School kids hospitalized after 'porno' party
HAMBURG, Germany – Dozens of school children at a “porno-themed” high school party were hospitalized Thursday for nausea and stomach aches. It was initially believed they were poisoned but no alcohol has been found.
The party at Bondenwald high school ended earlier than planned when 45 students between the ages of 10 and 14 complained they were feeling ill.
The fire service was called and 32 students were taken to the Altona children's hospital to be examined for potential effects of alcohol poisoning. However, upon testing, no signs of alcohol or other dangerous substances were found in the students' blood.
A spokeswoman for Hamburg police said, "The fire service initially speculated alcohol consumption to be the probable cause and took many of the children to the hospital. But most of the students felt suddenly better and went home yesterday afternoon.”
One pupil, however, did appear to be genuinely sick. Citing medical confidentiality, the spokeswoman would not state the cause of his illness and whether or not he had been discharged from hospital.
Doctors suspect that one child was sick and mass hysteria ensued among the other children.
The theme of the party was "porno.” Many of the girls wore fishnet stockings, while some boys donned fur coats and dressed as pimps.
School officials suspected the students had been given alcohol, regardless of the fact that alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited on school grounds. Police confiscated a case of beverages including cola, Fanta and lemonade from the scene. The drinks were sent to the toxicology institute at the university clinic of Hamburg-Eppendorf to be tested for traces of alcohol and other illicit substances.
