I've been interested in ghosts, hauntings and the occult since I was a child and I've lived in places that were haunted. People who live in haunted houses may not see a resident ghost but once or twice in years of living there, if at all. Yet, the people on these ghost hunting TV shows expect us to believe that they constantly witness paranormal activity and that just doesn't happen. I haven't seen the video of the lamp moving across the table at The Myrtles, but if someone can tell me where to find it, I'd like to see it. I agree with Jason that people don't accidentally pull lamps across tables because they would turn over. There's no doubt in my mind that the paranormal activity on these shows is staged.

Jane: Here's the link to the YouTube video of those two goons making the lamp move. Anyone who watches this and thinks that it was a freaking ghost or that Grant accidentally moved it is delusional. www.youtube.com/watch?v=J30WJfeH2_4

Common sense tells you that these ghost hunting shows are fake. How many times does a person ever see a ghost, or see a lamp move across the table or hear some disembodied voice in their lifetime? But they want people to believe that it happens all the time.

For Chris' sake, April, the video shows them setting up the whole thing. How can you "remain open-mindedly skeptical"?

Thanks for posting the link to that video, Jason.

I have a question. When I was watching some of those ghost hunting debunkings, I saw that one of the ghost hunters is called Meatloaf. Is he the one who replaced the original ghost hunter who left?

Jason, I watched the video and I did not see anything that was absolute proof of anything. It was all speculation. It's still a maybe for me. The supposed clip of them setting it up...I'm not sure what they were doing there. It's out of context.
Jane, Meatloaf is a famous rock singer. He has been on Ghost Hunters a few times but only as a guest. He is not a regular on the show.

Then watch the jacket pull trick in the link I've posted and tell me if you're still skeptical.

As for the lamp moving across the table, the first tablecloth was a crocheted cloth, not a frigging doile cloth! A "doily" is an ornamental mat, not a tablecloth, and it's spelled "doily" NOT "doile."

I've seen that video too Catherine. Looking at it purely objectively, it really shows nothing. I see no string there. I've watched it over and over, I see no string. The entire video is purely speculation as to what is happening with each little movement of Grant.
Just because someone pieces together a video with commentary leading you to believe one way or another doesn't mean it is true. Just because it's possible to fake something doesn't mean it was faked.
Yes, I agree Jason erroneously called the tablecloth a doily, but that does not mean he faked any evidence.
At this point, I can't say Ghost Hunters evidence is true any more than I can say it isn't true. That's just the brass tacks of it. All of this is why I am still skeptical.

For Chris' sake April! He walked around with his right arm in that same position and didn't even move it when he was supposedly pulled backward by a freaking ghost! If you feel yourself being pulled backwards by something, you naturally raise both arms in a reflex action to catch yourself in case you fall, you don't continue holding one arm at your side as if it were paralyzed! This is so obviously fake that no one could possibly believe that he wasn't doing it himself.

Again, that's just speculation though. He felt a tug on his coat, not strong enough to actually pull him backwards. It looked that way because of how he reacted, but it wasn't strong enough for him to be in fear of falling. I was watching it at the time it happened on the show.
If I can find an explanation that differs for it, then for me I have to go back to maybe.
It's ok-you don't have to agree with me. You could be absolutely right. I personally just don't know either way.

To Catherine: Do you actually expect two freaking plumbers who probably don't even have high school diplomas to know anything about tablecloths? I'm surprised that he even knew the word doily! These two goons are the type who use plastic placemats!
To April: You're just close-minded because you don't want to admit those two idiots are hoaxing all those "paranormal" events. You KNOW they are, you just refuse to admit it.

I honestly don't know either way for the simple fact that I was not there. I can't judge it based on speculation. I am totally open-minded to it being either fake or real.

I mean..admittedly do HOPE it is real, but I can't say that it is, and it would not shock me terribly if it ever was proven fake. I would be disappointed, but I do know it is a possibility.
What if it is really a ghost? That question is what keeps me watching the show.

April: Have you ever seen the same man walk around with his arm stiff by his side like that in any of the other shows? I don't watch the show because it's silly and I know that the chance of a ghost manifesting in front of a bunch of cameras with a bunch of people milling about would be less than 1 in a billion, but you probably watch all of them, so you would know if this is normal or not for him.
